1980s French crime series[edit]

Hi, hope somebody can help with this. While I was at school during the 1980s I remember watching a five or six part French crime series, which I think was shown as part of a French class. I think it was on BBC Two, and was shown both in French and English. It had something to do with illegal diamonds, which were referred to as "les choufleur", and there was a character in it called Robert LeCose, who I think came to an unfortunate end on a beach. I believe the series I might be looking for is La Marée et ses Secrets (The Tide and its Secrets) as the title card from this looks familiar and it goes with the beach scenario.
