4J Minecraft Generation[edit]

In the 4J version of Minecraft for PS3, which was later ported to PS4, I want to know if when it generated the world did it generate every block in the world? I know it works chunk by chunk, but I want to know if when it generates does it keep a vast array of blocks per position or did it do any form of compression such as "From (13,8,118) to (28,41,96) it is all plain stone." If it did use compression of some form, would it cause an anomoly. Example, granite didn't exist in the PS3 version of Minecraft until long after it was ported to PS4. So, if I go to a chunk created in PS3 before granite and dig into an area that was stored as "it all be stone here", is it possible that once it begins calculating exactly what kind of stone there is, it turns some of that to granite? So, in a world created before granite was added to the game, you end up finding granite by digging into a previously filled in area. 12.116.29.106 (talk) 11:36, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That is a rather specialist question, for which there is unlikely to be a reliable reference. Rather than ask at the reference desk you will probably have more luck in one of the many Minecraft forums. Shantavira|feed me 11:48, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
