Tonnes of Food Export from China during 1958 to 1961[edit]

How much Tonnes of Food Exported from China during 1958 to 1961? Please tag me in the answer.--Tenkasi Subramanian (talk) 15:34, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@தென்காசி சுப்பிரமணியன்: The article Great Leap Forward#Famine, paragraph 3, mentions these exports, with citation [33] to a book that might contain your answer. Loraof (talk) 16:28, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@தென்காசி சுப்பிரமணியன்: Ashton, Hill, Piazza, and Zeitz (1984). Famine in China, 1958–61. Population and Development Review, Volume 10, Number 4 (Dec., 1984), p.621 (ref96 in the same article) lists grain exports (in million tonnes): 1958: 2.9, 1959: 4.2, 1960: 2.7, 1961: 1.4. It also lists grain imports as 0.2, 0, 0.1, 5.8 million tonnes for those years. Grain should account for the bulk of the weight exported, though it would be worth checking if soybeans or sweet potatoes made a significant contribution. I'll check a few other sources.--Wikimedes (talk) 07:58, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Lardy, in the Cambridge History of China, Volume 14 p.381, table 8, has the same figures to greater precision. On p.380, Lardy says that in 1959 the primary exports were rice and soybeans, so you may have to find soybean figures to get a good picture of total export weight, unless soybeans are included in the grain figures, which sometimes happens: in Ashton, a later table on cultivated land area (p.627) has a footnote stating "Grain includes rice, wheat, corn, sorghum, millet, tubers (at one-fifth wet weight), soybeans, and other minor grains and pulses."--Wikimedes (talk) 08:41, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User:Loraof and User:Wikimedes Thanks for the quick response. Useful data.--Tenkasi Subramanian (talk) 16:21, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a website where I can sell or rent my old textbooks for new students and is it possible a college like Seneca College in Toronto has its one website for students to sell their textbooks or rent textbooks?
