Feeling of being hit by lightning?[edit]

What does it feel like? Persononthinternet (talk) 07:40, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lightning injuries will give you some idea. Or you could ask Roy Sullivan.--Shantavira|feed me 08:47, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I once knew someone who had been hit by lightning. Item 5 in Sullivan's list sounds similar, except for hair catching fire. He told several of us that basically the bolt knocked him to the ground and he could barely move for a while. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 10:52, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
By way of a reference: This is what it’s like to be struck by lightning and What It Feels Like To Be Struck By Lightning. Alansplodge (talk) 20:12, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In the news a while back, it was revealed that the Ashley madison website had fake people on it that were created by the website itself. In fact, all or almost all the women were faked by the website. These are called fake avatars? Now we now suspect or know that Russia has been putting fake avatars on facebook, quora, and others, maybe even wikipedia, but i’m asking if the facebook and quora corporations themselves have been putting up fakes?Rich (talk) 18:21, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Acronym for Five Tech Stock Leaders[edit]

It is my understanding that there is an acronym that is sometimes used to refer to five leading Internet and tech stocks - Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Twitter - that is some combination of their letters. I can't find the acronym. What is it? Robert McClenon (talk) 21:35, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What does the N stand for? Robert McClenon (talk) 21:59, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:07, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the state called Indiana?[edit]

Is it named after Indiana Jones? Persononthinternet (talk) 23:06, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ha ha! Vice versa. Just in case this is a serious question, see Indiana#Etymology. Dbfirs 23:13, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A number of the Midwestern states have Indian / Native American names - which, ironically, the word "Indian" is not. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:43, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As regards Indiana Jones, in the Holy Grail movie his father said he was nicknamed Indiana after his dog, also called Indiana. Maybe kind of a play on John Wayne, known as Duke, who was named for his dog, also called Duke. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 07:07, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Indy nicknamed himself after the dog, against his father's preference. The dialogue is quoted here. --76.69.46.228 (talk) 07:43, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The quote doesn't quite explicitly say that, but it's the same idea. It was others who called John Wayne "Duke", and he liked that better than his birth name, "Marion" (which, coincidentally, was Karen Allen's character name in the Indiana Jones movies). ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 10:24, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
