June 4[edit]

blank space in cast section[edit]

hello, right now the cast section for game of thrones looks like this for me: https://imgur.com/a/AvLJac9

i can fix it by editing the col width to be less than 80, but had my edit reverted because the user claimed that this is the way it should be and that it cannot fit every screen. is that user right? thank you. --SacredDragonX (talk) 02:16, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I fiddled with it a little bit so cut down the size of the big gap. But having all those cast member pictures is wreaking havoc. Since there's a separate article about the cast, maybe that's where the pictures should be. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 09:10, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And TedEdwards (talk · contribs) reverted it, using a bogus justification. So you'll have to fight this situation yourself. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 13:36, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's not bogus; it became very difficult (for at least me) to read with that massive gap. At least it's certainly better than the explanation you gave Baseball Bugs i.e. absolutely nothing. However, I am wondering whether the images of the cast really need to be there and I do not fully understand why they increase understanding. --TedEdwards 14:01, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Before I changed it, there was a big gap right after "Cast". You restored that big gap. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 15:58, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
i am also kind of leaning towards not having the pictures there at all, since I have tried to find other articles like the GOT ones and seeing if they had a fix for the white space, but could not find any since none of them had pics of the cast. --SacredDragonX (talk) 16:25, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
re Baseball Bugs; I can assure you that on at least my screen there is no gap; if there is a gap, it must just be a glitch on certain computers/browsers etc. --TedEdwards 16:58, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
On my browser, the cast list was in two columns (newspaper columns). At 09:08 this morning Bugs placed the main cast list in a single column, creating a huge gap. At 12:45 Ted put it back the way it was. 2A00:23C4:5D0C:D500:305F:D789:20A:9B8 (talk) 17:08, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It must depend on the browser. On mine (IE 10) there was the "Cast" heading. Then a right-hand column full of pictures, and after the pictures were done then the actual cast list appeared, hence leaving a huge gap - just like the picture the OP uploaded. We have at least 3 voices here saying get rid of the cast pictures. That should fix it for everyone. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 18:27, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

aspergers syndrome[edit]

Do people with Aspergers have disability. Will they ever learn to socialise better? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.151.89.179 (talk) 12:32, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Asperger syndrome is a developmental disorder characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction. This gives information about social relationships. DroneB (talk) 12:53, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

help[edit]

I've been going to meetings since 2, baptized at 25, disfellowshipped at 29 and reinstated at 30. Had to lie to get back in. I suffer from schizoaffective disorder and although me and my siblings suffered from abuse so extreme from our dad that the FBI had to get involved, no one at the hall ever offered help even when my sister and mom went to the elders. My dad is still in good standing.I've lived in fear my whole life knowing that without a doubt that Jehovah doesn't want me and at this point I pray for a quick death when the time comes. I believe in Jehovah as the true god but not so much this organization. From one witness to another what should I do? I'm asking on here cause I know for certain that if I go to my elders i'll get kicked out again and my mental can't handle that right now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1006:B048:993A:54DA:996C:ED91:2F88 (talk) 14:10, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm sorry you're going through this but I fear there's not much anyone on here can do to help you. I can only suggest that you reach out to a support group in your area. Your IP address indicates that you are in Florida. There are a number of resources online that can help you, for example this website which is for people in your situation in the UK but might still be able to offer advice. There's also a subreddit on Reddit that you can read and post on, see here. Good luck and remember you're not alone. --Viennese Waltz 14:45, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
[Edit Conflict] I'm sure all of us here are sorry for your situation, but as it includes a medical issue, about which we're not allowed to give advice, Wikipedia cannot help you directly.
We can however act as a source of general information. My suggestions would be firstly to read thoroughly our entire article Cult and see if anything there seems relevant to you, and secondly to seek the help of a disinterested Mental health counselor unconnected with your family and religious organisation and without letting either of them know. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.177.55 (talk) 14:52, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
Your advice focuses on the mental health issue, which I'm sure is well intentioned. However, I submit that is not really the main problem here. The real issue is that the OP needs to get away from the Jehovah's Witnesses, and as such they need a support group that will help them to do that. --Viennese Waltz 15:06, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't disagree, and hoped that my first suggestion would approach that problem without being so explicit as to alienate the OP, who has a lifetime of prior commitment to the JW. My second link was as good as I could find relevant to the OP's US situation: here in the UK disinterested general councelors, including but not limited to the Citizens' Advice Bureau, are easier to find. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.177.55 (talk) 15:16, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hope these help: [1], [2]. I have experience of this. My father joined the Exclusive Brethren and they tried to break up his marriage. 2A00:23C4:5D0C:D500:305F:D789:20A:9B8 (talk) 16:46, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"I've lived in fear my whole life knowing that without a doubt that Jehovah doesn't want me". Many people would disagree that that that's what God wants. It may be worth looking into (or talking to people from) other faiths and religions (and none) to see if they have better answers. Iapetus (talk) 14:15, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's plenty of room for doubt - starting with the fact that "Jehovah" is a fake word. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 17:41, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but ultimately all words are "fake" words, in that someone had to come up with them for the first time, whether as a product/corruption of previous fake words, or literally made up as they went along. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 23:06, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I blames King James for that one. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 00:17, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Masoretes around the 7th to 10th century (see here) originally substituted the vowels of Adhonai "my lord" into the Hebrew tetragrammaton יהוה‎ (YHWH) which yielded Latin JeHoVa, first attested here in writings of Galatinus, confessor to Leo X, 1516. See the article Jehovah and a claim that Raymundus Martini, a Spanish Dominican monk used "Jehovah" in his book Pugeo Fidei of 1270. Only much later in 1611 is Jehovah used at 4 places in the King James Bible translation. DroneB (talk) 14:26, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! A question about a picture![edit]

Hello all! Hope you have a nice day!. My question is, is film grain a hindrance for a FP nomination? Thanks! --LLcentury (talk) 20:27, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like there are several old pics in Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates, so it would seem that content is an important factor even if the granularity is not so fine. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:30, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball Bugs, Excellent friend, but to my English, would it mean it is still suitable with even some granularity? Thanks a lot & Best wishes. --LLcentury (talk) 21:36, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the quality of the picture is not as important as the subject matter, though I am sure that a very grainy picture will not make the cut. Anton 81.131.40.58 (talk) 12:54, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In the case of UFOs or a cryptid species, grainy pics would seem to be a requirement. :-) SinisterLefty (talk) 13:24, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you're curious about the criteria for a picture becoming features, you should ask at WP:FPC; that's the group that makes the selections. The talk page is also active. Matt Deres (talk) 14:24, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see the OP is active there already. I'm not sure if this is forum-shopping or if they just went to the wrong page by accident. For photos without historical significance (i.e. new pics), the standards for becoming featured are incredibly high. Matt Deres (talk) 14:27, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
