Here’s a photo of one my guinea pigs, well, acutally three. I would like to know how she died, but i’ll also tell you the story of her death.[edit]

(Note: Even though my Mom told be she died of diabetes, I would like to know if she’s right)

Well, the story starts when I’m at Severn Lodge. My aunt calls us, telling us that the guinea pig in the images was having breathing issues, and wasn’t getting up and wandering around as much (She’s a curious piggy).

Later, at least two weeks before J.K. Rowling’s 54th birthday, when I was in a summer school, i was holding her, and while petting her, I feel a flaky piece of skin above her ear. I start to pull it if, and she squeals. What I saw was something that looked like grey silicon/glue (possibly dry pus), with beige hair sticking on to it.

I notice a small hole leading to the inside of her body. I take her up to my Mom, and I show her the hole. She says she would ask a doctor, but she never does it. We put her back in her cage, where she lays on the ground more often.

When I take her outside, she also lays on the ground more often. Sometimes, her ear is leaking blood and pus, and eventually, on J.K. Rowling’s birthday, she starts squealing. We take her out of the cage, and she becomes very calm and still, and eventually in a few minutes, she stops moving.

Mom puts her dead body in a box, and the next day, we see the body laying on its side, curved. It’s very still, and you cant move the legs when you try to push them. Also, she drank lots of water, and her pee looked soupy.

Even though she has already died, I would like to know if these are symptoms of diabetes, or whatever health issue she had.

@Answermeplease11: Hi, and welcome to the Wikipedia Reference Desk! According to https://smallpetselect.com/diabetes-in-hamsters/, some of your hamster's symptoms seem to match with diabetes, namely lack of energy (lying around more), sweet/sugary urine scent (possibly related to "soupy" urine), excessive thirst and a lack of appetite (lying around more than usual). I'm not sure specifically if the skin issue is related to diabetes, it might be a separate issue, or related to weight loss (a symptom of diabetes) and your hamster being unable to sustain that specific patch of skin due to a loss of appetite and nutrition.
