What happened to the Torre Nova (A) sarcophagus?[edit]

The Digital LIMC has a link to it here, but its inventory status is listed as "unknown". Other sources indicate it was once part of the Palazzo Borghese art collection. Potential candidates for holders of the work include the Galleria Borghese, and perhaps others. Two sources which might point to the existence of the work can be found below, but I’m unable to find them online:

  • Kranz, P. Zu den Anfängen der stadtrçmischen Säulensarkophage. Mitteilungen des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts, Rçmische Abteilung 85 (1978), 349–380.
  • Wiegartz, H. Kleinasiatische Säulensarkophage. Untersuchungen zum Sarkophagtypus und zu den figürlichen Darstellungen (Berlin, 1965).

Does anyone have any ideas where the sarcophagus can be found? I’m guessing it is in pieces labeled A and B based on images of broken marble I’ve seen, and the two separate database entries for it at LIMC. Viriditas (talk) 01:31, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, there's a picture of it on this page, lesser mysteries of Eleusis, which says it's in the Palace of Spain. "First published 2009", though.  Card Zero  (talk) 04:24, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I’m stunned that I missed that. It’s always good to get a second pair of eyes on things. Viriditas (talk) 09:06, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Some other sources also give the Palazzo di Spagna. The two Spanish embassies in Rome are located in the Palazzo Borghese (the embassy to the Italian Republic) and the Palazzo di Spagna (the embassy to the Holy See). If Spain became the owner when the embassy to Italy took up residence in the Palazzo Borghese, the sarcophagus could have been moved to the Palazzo di Spagna without changing hands and thereby attracting public attention.  --Lambiam 09:51, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No-one receives email notifications about replies. That's not a thing here. --Viennese Waltz 15:35, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can add this page to your "watchlist". I don't have one, but I believe it provides time and edit summary immediately an edit is made. If the section you posted in is named in the edit summary it may well be a reply to your enquiry. 2A00:23C4:570A:600:B108:27BF:92F:5059 (talk) 17:13, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean by "Tino Carugati was unable to reply"? Did you ask them a question?  --Lambiam 13:24, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I found it, V11 > III, even if this III is at the same time a minor V of the relative minor tonality:
do major V11 > III > (IV) = la minor ... > Vm > VI Vastymedoisa (talk) 00:23, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: I found it, even if it is at he same time a minor V of the minor tonality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vastymedoisa (talkcontribs) 00:20, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
