Monkeypox and bacterial infections[edit]

Monkeypox itself is a viral disease. Both S. aureus and S. dysgalactiae are pathogens known to be involved in opportunistic infection and can profit from the weakened health of a patient to overcome the normal resistance. --Lambiam 11:11, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adult stem cells[edit]

They are derived from tissue, which may come from an organ, but also from bone marrow or mucous membranes. A tissue sample can be obtained by biopsy. The protocols to derive the adult stems cells from the tissue sample are complicated. They involve such steps as repeated washing, centrifuging and filtration to isolate the cells from other cells and debris, and cultivating the cells in a medium that allows them to proliferate. These protocols depend on the type of tissue and cannot be summarized in a simple way. Two publications (behind paywalls) describing such protocols in detail are [1] and [2]. --Lambiam
