Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 November 17

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please give feedback as to whether this article is acceptable for you. Please note, I have already launched a request for feedback on my sources since I live in a small developing country and contacting the "celebrity" is not that difficult, hence I have Unpublished interviews as a source since this was done verbally. The artist is aware of my article and gives consent to use information. Also picture is copywrited and consent given by photographer to use once his symbol and name was on it. Please give feedback before deleting, thank you. yellow83 01:39, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Please note that there is the WP:NOTTRUTH guideline, as well as WP:BLP. All information provided on Wikipedia must be verifiable through independent sources. An unpublished interview or first-hand accounts do not fall in this category. Apart from this, not every comedian is notable. There must be an impact to a wider audience. Also note that per WP:PROMOTION, youtube videos and fanpages should not be used as sources to an article. Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 17:14, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Really want to get a photo on this article but just have no idea how to do it. I have read pages and pages of things saying how to do it...just not having any luck. Is there a Dummies Guide to show me how to do it??? Any other feedback on the article would be MUCH appreciated!! Thanks for your help!! Peachy11 (talk) 02:38, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In case you took the image by yourself, you can easily upload it here. Note that you must not upload material that is copyright protected. To include an image into an article, use Image:filename (in doulbe square brackets; on how to add captions etc., you can find many examples on all sorts of Wikipedia articles. Furthermore, I think that you should change the title towards just Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre.

Have you already thought about merging the content into New York University? I cannot see why a stand-alone article should be neccessary. (also, I removed your double entry). Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 17:37, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

here is a draft on Martin, Camara DC: [1] he is included in your page List_of_people_in_chiropractic 112.206.27.228 (talk) 03:35, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Official Bio of the drummer and producer of The Black Eyed Peas... Keith Harris Harrisproductions (talk) 10:35, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, as you can see above, I would propose to name the article Keith Harris (Black Eyed Peas), in order to comply with the usual Wikipedia style. Secondly, judging from your username, I assume that there is a conflict of interest. Please note that Wikipedia is not the place for promotion. Thirdly, facebook and myspace sites are no reliable sources that are required for a Wikipedia article. And the remaining source [2] seems to be your own website, again judging from you username. Therefore, I would advise you not to go ahead with this article (as you are biased), maybe you could pose a request here. Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 17:52, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
edit: What is more, the introductory section of your article is a blatant copyright infringement, as it's just copy-and-past from this source. Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 17:57, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reactions is one of the more interesting and established insurance titles, and has carried some notable interviews. There are a number of Wiki pages about similar magazines, so it seems very natural to get Reactions on the site. It is published by Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc. Hfasken (talk) 12:13, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed your double entry. Better call your article Reactions (trade magazine). Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 17:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nice start; a few comments:
  • You have three references, but two are to itself, it would be nice to have a few more.
  • I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say "Reactions has become a leading events brand". My guess is that you mean that events sponsored by Reactions are industry draws, but if that is what you mean, you could be more explicit, and give examples. (The follow on sentences are probably examples, but the linkage is implicit, not explicit.)
  • The phrase "in the wake of his departure from AIG and the establishment of CV Starr" awkward. The second item is presumably one of the main subjects of the interview, but the first gives a timing context to the interview, so there's apples and oranges in a single clause.
  • Is there anything worth saying about their presence in Baden-Baden or Monte Carlo? What you have so far is fine, but thin, so I'm casting about for possibilities to beef it up a bit.--SPhilbrickT 19:39, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've just created this article about a start-up airline. I no that airline have to pass WP:CORP to become notable, and - as User:JohnCD has pointed out here, this might no be the case with this artice, which is why I'm posting the matter here. As a side note (because I pretty much know that the following statement does not mean anything on Wikipedia) I dare say that I cannot see why this airline should not be notable, compared to many other airline articles here on Wikipedia which state even less sources. Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 14:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nice start; a couple comments:
  • You won't be surprised when I mention the thin referencing. Two trade publications with a minor mention. Not a single mention in a news magazine or newspaper?
  • Other than that, the structure looks fine. You might look at Referencing for beginners so you could convert the references from bare urls to proper citations.--SPhilbrickT 20:46, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just moved it into main space. Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 14:10, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Smanbd (talk) 14:49, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You moved it from user space into main space before even asking for feedback. It has now been deleted, and based upon a quick glance, it wasn't ready.--SPhilbrickT 23:58, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been edited to have more reliable sources. Several sections have been deleted and many changes have been made to comply with Wikipedia. Please review and confirm that this is good to move to the mainspace.

Jan Pouwer - Dutch Anthropologist Jan_Pouwer[edit]

Jan Pouwer was a Dutch anthropologist who passed away this year (2010) and, as a former student when he taught in Wellington New Zealand, i was struck by the lack of knowledge about him and his work in the English speaking world. As a consequence i started an entry on him.

In this i was greatly assisted by a Dutch authority on cultural anthropology who supplied better details about Jan Pouwer's professional career, and who has provided very exacting proofreading of a very high standard.

The select bibliography provides a list of Jan Pouwer's works, mainly in English. There may be more in Dutch but i am leaving his that to those with a knowledge of Dutch.

We think the entry is now at a stage where it can be reviewed.

I am presently waiting for a photo of Jan Pouwer to add to the text.

In seeking to provide an accurate account of some of the main features of Jan Pouwer's anthropological work i have quoted from his own work where possible and as succinctly as possible.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi I have just created a page for The SEEP Network. It is my 2nd attempt and this time I tried to make it as encyclopedic as possible (deleting all the words that can be considered promotional). I simply included a brief overview of the organization and the work it does. I welcome any constructive comments. Thank you!

Robinhood88 (talk) 23:32, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm trying to add a photo, but I do not have permission to upload photos. Is there any other way I can do this. Here is the photo (http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/member-page/?district=70), which is on a government website and provided by the person the photo is off, which I have permission from them to use.

Also I would appreciate any other feedback or advice while I wait for it to be approved to be moved.
