Jemima's Witnesses

Originally the article was deleted for the reason's of: "Doesn't indicate importance or significance of a group/company/etc.", "G1: Patent nonsense, meaningless, or incomprehensible." As a follower of Jemima's Witnesses I was sad to see the page deleted, however, at the time we did not have any significant argument to keep the page. At the time of the article deletion, we were just getting off the ground with our religion. We had not yet established our website. Now, I feel that we should get the chance to re-submit an article that explains our religion. It is what we believe, and we feel it should not be left out of the encyclopedia simply because we are not a large or mainstream religion. I appreciate you time. That section you quote is common to the whole site as a Joomla sub frame and the site does indeed contain righted material which we cannot/will not release as it is part of our research base and monthly "Moneta' publication. As you can see It's a very large site so we can't do a blanket removal without either having to undertake major changes to the site, or releasing the whole thing.

I suggest that I put a legal notice of release on the wikipedea page together with my name and qualifying authority: Would that suffice?

  • A few options exist, assuming that the content you add meets our baseline threshold for inclusion. First you may add individual copyright notices to the pages you want to bring over indicating that the content on those pages has been released into some PD-like license (Creative Commons CC-BY-SA licenses should be fine). Second, you could email WP:OTRS indicating which sites you want to release into the public domain. Adding a notice to the wikipedia page itself won't do much, because nobody can prove that you are the owner of the content just from your wikipedia account. The content would be Numismatic terms together with some reference images of what certain terms pertain to in order to provide a clear and, to an extent, visual explanation of those terms. This should provide a useful resource for anyone interested in the field. It will also provide details of items in respect of historical origins and purpose. It will not be a dictionary or a means of promotion.

Quite happy to place a copyright release on the relevant page in question and make that page public!

  • Small point. In order to release something to wikipedia, you need to permit commercial re-use of the content (so the CC-BY-SA license, not the CC-NC variants). ingalls shipbuilding

Greetings to whomever,

Last week I spent some time researching and updating the "Ingall Shipbuilding" file. I did this from other Wikipedia pages and links. All data is verifiable. I tried to add this comment in the sources section but was unable to. It is very disappointing to see that all of that work has been for naught. I live near this great shipyard and wanted to contribute to the historic records. This was my first, and perhaps last, attempt to contribute. It would mean a lot to see those additions restored to the page.

You can see the old revisions in the history tab on Ingalls Shipbuilding. This board is for restoration of content which has been deleted by an administrator. Syllabotactics

A few days ago I was reading a book on phonology where there was a reference to a newly developed fascinating theory called “Syllabotactics”. I managed to find a number of good articles and researches where this theory is discussed in depth. In search for more info I googled the term syllabotactics and it returned over 200 results some of which referred to Wikipedia. And then I was indeed shocked and disappointed to see that you have deleted this article. I went through the comments made in favour of the deletion and I found them absolutely absurd, clearly made by people who don’t have no knowledge of phonology. It is indeed regretful to notice that Wikipedia allows deletion of this kind of valuable articles on the basis of few absurd comments. May I ask you to undelete this article immediately or at least refer it to some academic phonologists to make a sound judgment about that. Polish American Librarians Association (PALA)

I am new to Wikipedia and I am sorry if I posted the website inappropriately, every day I am learning something new. I am willing to learn the rules, but I see that deleting process is common, and in my opinion drastic. I hope that Wikipedia Polish American Librarians Association (PALA) could exist on Wikipedia with the same purpose as the American Library Association page. Polish American Librarians Association (PALA) is a non profit organization created to help people and the community, not a personal business advertisement. I would like to be able restore the website, and I hope it is possible, because I spend a lot of time learning the Wikipedia code features. I'm doing this voluntarily for PALA.   • Hi. The article was deleted as a promotional page, which does not distinguish between for profit organizations and not for profit concerns. Rather it is concerned with stylistic issues and potential for expansion into a neutral article suitable for a general encyclopedia. A red flag for article reviewers and administrators is a section like "vision" or "mission statement", which are planks important to organizations but not terribly important (or appropriate) for an encyclopedia. I'm not 100% sure I agree with the original deletion, but as you can see from the top of this page, I can't unilaterally overturn it. I will do a few things for you. First I will contact the deleting admin and invite them to comment on this section--if we can reach some agreement they can undelete the content and you can go back to improving the page. Second, I can email you the content of the article (or move a copy of it into your userspace where you can edit it. In return I would like to ask you to do a few things. First, please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations, a short page which will hopefully answer some questions about our policies on organizational articles and edits made 'on behalf' of organizations. Second, it would be very helpful for the article as well as any discussion of the deletion to gather up any news coverage from reliable sources on the subject. The article was marked for speedy deletion because it concerns a music band. The admin who marked the page for deletion stated that the significance of the band was not made clear. However the significance of the band is that it was signed by Eurocreme, a major gay pornographic producer, which marked an important change of direction brought on by video piracy. I can't say I see much POV issues. The article in the cat will be Murder of Victoria Climbié (eight years old), a case in England that saw the killers convicted of murder. There's a Category:Murdered children, divided by nationality of victims, some which only contain a few pages. I think this is a grey area. Many of these "death of" articles have bio cats like date of birth and date of death, eg Death of Ian Tomlinson. FatalFear

This article is for one of the better known and ost succesful contemporary Korean Metal bands. They were th eonly band featured in Metal Hammer magazine and Powerplay magazine (both international magazines based in the UK) while also having supported numerous acts including the internationally famos band Arch Enemy.

There were accusations of advertising, but seeing as the band is not selling anything (outside of korea) and even hosts a non profit record label to help underground artists worldwide get their music heard -this is ridiculous. There were sources given, one being a scan from Metal Hammer (used with permission) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FatalFear-MetalHammer.jpg also another that has happened since the deletion being powerplay magazine http://www.powerplaymagazine.co.uk/underground/56-fatalfear.html

There were no grounds for deletion nor resonable explanation before or after the fact. I have contacted the deleter and he has said things along the lines of one person was editing the page, when many people have been, in fact editing the page.

It said The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/FatalFear until a concensus is reached..however I can see no such consensus, only several people asking for it to stay/be undeleted.

It is possible this was either a singular attack on a band member due to: -1 his activism (recently speaking out for a person falsely accused of manslaughter, although acquitted -as the objectors on that forum went after the vocalist and posting details of his life, wherabouts and activity) -2 for his spiritual beliefs (tinots.moonfruit.com) or

-3 due to the band being Korean. As there are almost NO korean bands on Wiki, let alone rock/metal bands at all. So this is, if anything, all the more reason the article should stand.

In any case, there are no significant grounds for deletion and anyissues could have been edited freely.

For tyhe band, I just ask for "a chance to be heard" and referenced. This band (and many others in Korea) work incredibly hard against the odds, acceptable status quo and culture to produce this kind of music..which ironically embodies more korean culture than the mainstream pop music that is more derivative than original.

Spurs Show

The article was deleted because of article A7 under ``speedy deletion." The show in question is corporate-sponsored and has a respectably sized audience (tracked through iTunes), and features Phil Cornwell who does have a Wikipedia profile. Recently the show had as its guest one of The Guardian's sports writers and has become a public forum for sports journalists and fans to reach a specific audience. See the response two posts up. You're in the wrong place. The article has not been deleted so this page has no applicability to this proposed deletion in the future. This page is for article that have already been deleted. Your assertion of notability has no value whatever. Notability is an objective standard. You show something is notable by citing to reliable sources, independent of the subject, evidencing that the the world has taken note of the topic by writing about is in some depth. Cayman Karting

This article was speedy deleted (without notification to the page creator). The Conflict of Interest point is readily acknowledged and appropriate disclosure is now made on User:Caymandriver. Considerable effort was made to write in natural, but neutral, language and merely summarize factual information from third-party articles already in print. I would be grateful for the opportunity to seek feedback on the article and whether it can be amended to satisfy the necessary criteria. Ideally this would be through an AfD discussion. Is there an opportunity to debate this anywhere? Is it appropriate/possible to userify the page so a discussion on notability can take place? It appears all other karting venues with articles were similarly listed for speedy deletion, but were not deleted and are now subject to contested AfD discussions. The Category:Karting venues was itself also listed for deletion and that discussion remains open. This particular kart track is a national sports facility that receives widespread coverage in the Cayman Islands national media: there is online evidence of national television station coverage and several articles in both Cayman's national newspapers are referenced in the article. Thanks - username changed. There seem to be two points here - notability and conflict of interest. The notability question I think falls in line with discussions with the other karting venues. I would suggest that karting venues are conceptually of suitable notability - motorsports tracks are of natural encyclopedic interest due to many standard comparable data points and the popularity of motorsports - but that is an ongoing debate properly being conducted elsewhere. I would suggest in relation to this particular kart track there is ample evidence of national interest and notability. As for the potential conflict of interest this is acknowledged and now disclosed on the userpage. According to the relevant guidelines this is not in and of itself a bar to page creation, but a reason for great caution to ensure the conflict of interest does not affect the objectivity of the content. The exercise of great caution was attempted in writing the article. Close attention was paid to ensure the content was strictly factual, it was carefully linked internally, referenced externally and used the appropriate templates. It may be that the article can be cut down or edited by myself, or ideally others, to satisfy whatever concerns do exist. In essence I would appreciate the opportunity to receive substantive feedback as to what actual issues the conflict of interest has given rise to in relation to the content. I discovered Mimee from Wikipedia due to it being listed as a link atGeographic coordinate conversion. Yes there are websites other than Mimee that do what it does, but from what I know those other sites go into much greater mathematics and involve using formulas I can't understand. When I said Mimee was useful, I mean that it is an easy to use tool for converting geographic coordinates, so easy that anyone can use it. This fact makes it useful. And this means it should stay on Wikipedia. If you can find another tool similar to it that is easy to use and has notability, please refer to it. One of the most annoying things I can think of is looking up a Wikipedia entry that I use regularly only to find out it has been deleted. Reasons why it has been deleted 1. "almost three years earlier is no reason to keep something around, as consensus can and does change. The standards of 2010 are, thankfully, higher than those of 2007. The consensus here is that this list is an indiscriminate collection of trivia" 2. "Just being mentioned in a notable work of fiction does not make some fictional company notable." Refute 1. List of U.S. Presidents have been on the list longer than three years, and will change. But does that mean delete that list too? And one of the primary purposes of Wikipedia is Trivia. 2. What is notable to one party does not necessarily mean it is notable to another party. I have found many entries that can be defined only as "useless knowledge", but I do not advocate deleting any of them. Just because one looks down their nose at "mere trivia" does not give them the right to advocate its deletion. One party's "mere trivia" is another party's valuable information. That said, those deletion advocates might dismiss trivia as important, but many users use Wikipedia for that exact reason, locating trivia. It's not as if Wikipedia has a finite amount of space. I have no problem with merging or splitting files, within reason, but I find the hubris of parties advocating deleting entries suffocating. How would they like it if I advocated deleting entries that are important to them? Compromise If Wikipedia still insist on deleting entries for obviously arbitrary reasons, put them in an easily located archive so parties who still find said entries pertinent have no problem in still locating information they want.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.170.46.233 (talk • contribs)

In my personal experience, there is a detachment between users and regular editors of Wikipedia. To my knowledge, most WP readers in real life have an inclusionist bias, while most editors are neutral or deletionists. --Cyclopiatalk 11:37, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Though I note your qualifier, that is a sweeping, unfalsifiable statement. Perhaps the same things could be said of readers of any publication. I feel that the American Economic Review ought to accept more submissions, but I suspect that the editors of the AER feel differently. Certainly the philosophy of "it exists, so it should be covered" is easy to hold in mind, but nearly impossible to implement in practice if you also require that information be verifiable. I will, however, fully agree that active editors of wikipedia are MUCH more likely to treat wikipedia as non-trivial, because nobody likes working hard on something that is a lark. As a result, we see a lot of pressure to kind of reform the image of wikipedia through things like notability or metering what kind of articles go on the main page (when was the last porn star you saw on the main page? What kind of articles are overrepresented on the main page relative to their churn in recent changes or even their proportion of FAs?). That's not even mentioning the great BLP controversy. If you want an issue which is held in deep regard by wikipedians but basically ignored by regular readers, look no further. Protonk (talk) 19:39, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
