Template:TVS-cleanup (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Completely inactive template. Has not been updated from 2006 and used outdated parameter and categories. Was not in use only on 1 article (has been replaced by {Tl|Cleanup). If it were being used actively we might consider keeping it, but as it is now, this is just redundant to {{Cleanup}}. Because of the outdated parameter better to delete than to redirect to {{Cleanup}}. Debresser (talk) 17:42, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Little used and redundant to the much more widely used {{Cleanup}}, with no significant benefit from the specifics it adds. However, just to be sure all sides are heard from, I put a notice about the TfD at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television Stations. --RL0919 (talk) 01:06, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete As a member of TVS I didn't even know we had that template. If we ask for a cleanup a regular template works just as well, so I see no problems with deletion. Nate (chatter) 06:09, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not notable. East Asian Football Championship is a minor competition and not important compared to FIFA World Cup or continental championships (UEFA European Championship, Copa America, AFC Asian Cup, Africa Cup of Nations and CONCACAF Gold Cup). Baransaka (talk) 18:23, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football related deletions. GiantSnowman 11:57, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all - per prior concensus, navboxes of this type are only needed for FIFA championships and Confederation championships. Adding them for minor tournaments such as this is overkill at best. Jogurney (talk) 14:30, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all - I also nominate the following roster templates. Lomocompact (Lomocompact) 06:03, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Template:Vietnam squad 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Template:Thailand Squad 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Template:Indonesia Squad 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
  • Keep All - Importance and notability here is subjective. Yes the tournaments are not as big as the World Cup or other regional cups but who is not to say that these tournaments won't become more important and notable in the future given time to grow. Who is to say that these type of tournaments are not important and notable for those small, less powerful countries that have no/limited chances of making it to the world cup and other big tournaments and whose only time in the spotlight is under these minor tournaments. There is no reason to delete them because they pale in comparison, importance and notability to the bigger events which in turn does not mean they are not notable or important to begin with and having them is not "overkill". Transaction Go (talk) 16:06, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment - as I state in more detail below, no one is suggesting that the articles for these tournaments be deleted. Jogurney (talk) 21:16, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep All: This competition was organized by international "Federation" too. EAFF & ASEAN are autonomy organization with AFC, it is a unusual case. Hoising (talk)
  • Delete all - Prior consensus within WP:FOOTY is that only national squads for the FIFA World Cup and the top national competitions of UEFA, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, CAF, AFC and OFC should have squad templates. The East Asian Football Championship and the Suzuki Cup do not fall under those categories. – PeeJay 17:45, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strongly Keep: It's an important regional tournament. One day it may become even bigger, who can predict this? We have input historical/factual information, why is their need to delete? Druryfire (talk) 20:31, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment - this TfD is about the navboxes, not the articles. I certainly agree that we should have articles about the tournaments, but navboxes for the squads are unnecessary and will become unwieldy (there are several minor tournaments in each region). The articles about the tournaments probably already have squad lists, and it would be fine to create squad lists in the articles that don't have them. Navboxes are a step too far. Jogurney (talk) 21:08, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Furthermore, to assume that the competition will become any bigger than it already is (which can't be that big, tbh) would be crystal-balling, which is not an admissible argument either for or against deletion. – PeeJay 23:21, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Updated Additional Keep All Comment - If these templates get deleted then I will strongly insist that Football at the Summer Olympics squads templates and other similar templates gets deleted as well. They are no where near as important and notable as the World Cup and other federation cups. They are not under FIFA's statutes or any of the main federations or even the subfederations which also follow FIFA's statues. While the Olympics are important and notable this event is not and is not a defining part of the Olympics and note Notability is not inherited. Olympics have also gone on without a football event.
Ultimately though they have been an "amateur" event and most recently they have essentially been a youth tournament. And as per a confirmed deletion case here "Youth tournament templates deletion", youth tournament templates are to be deleted. This is as opposed to a tournament in which professionals take part in.

The thing is that, along with my previous post, the importance and notablity here is subjective and it is unfair to compare them to the top echelons. Transaction Go (talk) 19:08, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If we cannot consider the (admittedly subjective) importance of a tournament in deciding whether squad navboxes are needed, then someone can create navboxes for all squads at every possible football tournament, including glorified friendlies like the U.S. Cup. I agree that the youth tournaments don't need navboxes (nor the Asian Games), but the Olympic tournaments have more notability than regional tournaments as it probably makes sense to have navboxes for the participating football squads. Jogurney (talk) 21:04, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep All it is a notable regional football event, and what harm is there in keeping the templates that already exist Eldumpo (talk) 13:19, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think you've just explained why these templates should be deleted. The point is that these templates are for a regional event, but the consensus is that only confederational tournaments should have individual squad navboxes. The East Asian Football Championship is not a confederational tournament, and the templates should be deleted. – PeeJay 21:29, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so consensus may be reached.

Template:2008 Pittsburgh Panthers football roster (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Template only used on a single page, pretty much making it useless. The information can be added within the relevant article. Grsz11 20:26, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete. I am ok with deleting these. Not sure how this got to be standard practice anyway. Just make sure the data is moved the season articles before deleting.—NMajdantalk 20:48, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • If deletion is the consensus, would it be possible to have a bot go through and copy these templates to the article space? Seems like it would be pretty straight forward. Grab the template, look at What Links Here, find the appropriate season article, within the article find where the template is transcluded and replace it with the data in the template from the opening table tag to closing table tag ({| |}).—NMajdantalk 21:08, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Also may want to consider adding Template:1994 Alabama Crimson Tide Starters to the list.—NMajdantalk 21:18, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Individual images of CT of human brain (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Only used on one page, as a collapsing image gallery. Articles shouldn't contain galleries anyway, and especially not collapsing ones. Fixing those issues in the template would render it little more than a handful of image tags, again with no potential use outside the one article.
