Template:Watchdog (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

appears to be an abandoned experiment, unused outside of a single transclusion in a Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) archive. Frietjes (talk) 23:48, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Subst, then delete. I see no good reason to keep it (someone might find it and not realise that we didn't adopt it), although we don't want to mess up the appearance of the Village Pump archive page. Nyttend (talk) 21:19, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Types of tools (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

As Andy Dingley noted on Template talk:Types of tools in March of 2012, this template has an overly broad scope. It's pretty silly to have such disparate items as sponge, leaf blower, pickaxe, tape measure, scalpel, and jigsaw all in the same navbox. I suggest separate navboxes for "measuring tools", "agricultural tools", "cleaning tools", etc. Brainy J ~~ (talk) 11:57, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See {{Surgical instruments}} for an example of how much nicer and easier on the eyes a navbox with a narrower scope is.-- Brainy J ~~ (talk) 03:18, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • agree, this should be split. Frietjes (talk) 18:54, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Split and keep - I agree with splitting this template into separate templates for cleaning tools, agricultural tools, measuring tools, etc., based roughly on the categories currently present in the template. After splitting out that content, I would keep this template and define the scope that it should have, namely, it should provide navigation links to different types of tools (as opposed to linking to the tools themselves). So it would link to cleaning tool, garden tool, hand tool, power tool, measuring instrument, machine tool, etc. — LinguistAtLarge • Talk  21:04, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Split and keep. I was going to suggest that we simply split it and delete it, but LinguistAtLarge makes a very good point about using it to navigate between broad types of tools. Nyttend (talk) 21:07, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Split and keep, as long as the subsequent "parent" and "baby" templates link to each other.—DocWatson42 (talk) 04:20, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
