These six templates were nominated for deletion as unused in 2020, soft-deleted, and then restored as "not yet" per a 2019 "no consensus" TFD. Here we are four years after that first "no consensus" outcome, and these templates are still not used. Wikipedia:Route diagram template specifically says that for any new route diagrams, these templates should not be used, in part because they do not display properly in the mobile view. It is probably time to start weeding out these unused BS* templates as an attractive nuisance that will just need to be converted at some point. {{Routemap}} appears to provide a better alternative. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:10, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the campaign to delete every unused template. Even the ones that are completely useless are not worth spending editor time arguing about. The original discussion (from 2015) during which it was created said that there was no edit notice for IPv6 pages telling you that you are creating a page for an IP editor, but now, in 2023, when you try to create a page like User talk:2601:C8:0:BE08:F4C6:9930:599A:3623, you see a standard "This is the discussion page for an IP user, ..." notice.   • Keep when the related list was split, separate templates were made, and this was kept to preserve history. The tables were initially moved out from the lists due to size. There's no reason to delete other than lack of transclusion, with these practical reasons to keep. If you really have an issue with non-transclusion templates (though there is future potential with this one), userfying is an option, but I think that would send the wrong message about this series of articles being open for anyone to edit. Delete. Keeping around unused templates attracts pointless maintenance edits (see this). If history is needed, just histmerge to one of the other templates that the information was split from. On a related note, there is no real reason why Template:LGBT Summer Olympians 2004–2020 overview needs to be in a template as that is clearly article content. Keep:@Jonesey95 It's work in progress. I am creating all the pages. So better leave it for a while. It will be unnecessary exercise after creating all the pages in 2-3 days. I clearly mentioned it in Comments. .... It's not an easy task to handle global articles .... look at the source...instead of deletion I invite you to contribute using source: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] it takes days of research to find and prepare stuff, cites, books, ref, news articles so for convenience created the template first. Watchlist and comeback in 4-5 days.. if proper pages are not there, you are welcome to delete it. --BeLucky (talk) 07:05, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
