Wikipedia:The Great Wikipedia Dramaonly

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From 19 August to 21 August 2009, Wikipedians were asked to stop their wikignoming work and instead dedicate themselves to settling arguments and discussions. In this plan, new talk page discussions should not be added unless there is a great necessity, while old discussions should be settled. Anti-vandalism acts and new page patrol should also be done more during this period.

The Great Wikipedia Dramaonly was not intended as an attack on the Great Wikipedia Dramaout, or a discouragement of Wikignoming. Rather, it served as a way to end discussions so that the acts of expanding, creating, and cleaning up pages can be done with less distraction.

If the consensus of a discussion lead to an edit in the article namespace, this was not prohibited.

Areas affected[edit]

  • MOTD. The discussions at the MOTD, including the ones that have not been reopened, should be quickly marked as approve or declined.
  • Any Wikipedia talk, Category talk, User talk, Template talk, or other talk pages. They should be sped up.
  • New page patrol, recent changes patrol and random pages patrol are to be sped up.

Areas not affected[edit]

Participants[edit]

Participation was not an obligation. Pure Wikignomes were not encouraged to participate. The talk page header for this movement is similar to the nodrama header:

Stop.
This user is observing The Great Wikipedia Dramaonly from August 19-21 and is probably busy resolving unsettled arguments or discussions, or patrolling pages and recent changes. If you have a question, please consider leaving a message when the Dramaonly is over. You can join us! Signup is here.
