Alex close to landfall in Mexico.

Hurricane Alex was a rare June hurricane and the first tropical cyclone to develop in the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season. Originating from an area of disturbed weather on June 25, 2010, it slowly developed in the western Caribbean Sea and struck Belize as a strong tropical storm. After entering the Gulf of Mexico, Alex became very large and encountered conditions favorable for gradual development. Early on June 30, the cyclone attained hurricane status as it approached northeastern Mexico, the first June hurricane in the Atlantic basin since Hurricane Allison in 1995, and the storm rapidly intensified just off the coast of Tamaulipas. Alex came ashore near Soto la Marina as a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. (Full article...)

  • Reasons for nomination: June 25, 2015 will be the 5th Anniversary of this rare hurricane which originally formed June 25, 2010. The article itself is rated as a good article and the amount of information, pictures, and video make it a fantastic article to read.
  • Support as nominator. STO12 (talk) 02:43, 10 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support This article has fantastic information as well as media. It deserves a nomination as a TFA. The time to present this makes sense being it's 5th Anniversary of formation. KirklandStorm (talk) 17:37, 10 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - for once, could we have a hurricane TFA that doesn't have the ubiquitous satellite "vague swirly thing" view? I've attached a picture of the consequences of the hurricane which would make a good alternative. Optimist on the run (talk) 07:44, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Uhh, this isn't even a featured article... Oppose, in that regard. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:50, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose A-class != featured article.—CycloneIsaac (Talk) 01:52, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose This isn't even Featured Article. It can't be run. A featured article must be FA-class. This is GA-class. Sorry, but no. TVShowFan122 (talk) 12:17, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose: Fails criteria to be "Today's Featured Article" (for the requested date) as it is not a Featured Article (FA-Class). --JDC808 18:42, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
