Your report, should you choose to accept it[edit]

A week of film and suicide: Wikipedia loves movies. And this list makes that very clear, with 9 out of 25 articles being cinema-related and a 10th of TV. That's 40% of the whole thing. An unusual percentage.

In other news, this was a surprisingly non-scandalous week. Only two (and a half?) deaths, and Demi Lovato made it through the week. Reddit and Google are here. And the World Cup lingers, almost a month after its final. Perhaps France is still basking in its glory.

For the week of July 29 to August 4, 2018, the 25 most popular articles on Wikipedia, as determined from the WP:5000 report were:

1	Mission: Impossible - Fallout	991,997	The sixth movie in the franchise (occupying the #3 spot here) was released last Friday, when it didn't have enough time to get that many views and occupied, appropriately, the sixth slot on last week's list. This week, however, even without the initial rush of opening-night views, film fans managed to push it up to the top.
2	Deaths in 2018	753,212	What, dead people? I never would've guessed! (/s) Predictably, this makes its appearance yet again. Not as expected, it rose two spots while dropping 6,000 views, probably due to the fact that no article this week has more than a million views.
3	Mission: Impossible (film series)	711,052	Soon to join the ranks of Fast and Furious, and having already surpassed Indiana Jones. Eventually to feature the likes of Jaws 19.
4	Tom Cruise	670,756	The star of #1.
5	Gerda Taro	640,351	Google Doodle here, this time proclaiming the 108th birthday of this photojournalist who died while covering the Spanish Civil War after a tank crashed into her vehicle.
6	Demi Lovato	601,492	Switched spots with Mission: Impossible - Fallout from last week's list. I just never expected Princess Anna to nearly die from an opioid overdose. Did you?
7	Rick Genest	579,248	Also known as Zombie Boy. But to get to the point, last week he was alive. Now he's not. The police say it was a suicide, but his family says there's too many inconsistencies. They may have a point, but then again, they all say that.
8	Avengers: Infinity War	575,746	The movie inspiring this subreddit and its great ban (spoilers for the movie) has now been released to digital.
9	Meena Kumari	504,102	Google is back! Another birthday, this time of an Indian actress that lived a bit longer than Kurt Cobain, but not that much. 11 years longer, to be precise.
10	Bruce Willis	492,869	So apparently he will be helping to cast the next Die Hard movie. He was also roasted. I didn't watch it, but it seems it wouldn't have been prudent to show it to my 6-year-old cousin.
11	Brian Christopher	442,307	Another suicide, this time of a wrestler. Two in a week, and the only deaths that made the list. Depression shouldn't be taken lightly.
12	Orange is the New Black	433,533	The sixth season was just released last Friday. Sixth season out the same day as the sixth Mission: Impossible? Suspicious...
13	Jack (baboon)	426,047	Reddit learned that a baboon was given a job at a railway and never made a mistake in 9 years of employment. Then he died of tuberculosis. Because that's perfectly normal...
14	2018 FIFA World Cup	424,683	It's been almost a month since the final, and yet it still lingers. France seems to be enjoying their glory. Fair enough, I suppose.
15	Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again	407,734	I haven't seen it. The people that have say the music is good.
16	Demi Moore	394,362	She roasted her ex, #10.
17	Imran Khan	358,757	Led his party to a plurality of seats in the Pakistani National Assembly.
18	Venom (2018 film)	336,565	I'm not really into superheroes, honestly. I didn't even know the Batman logo was a bat until the end of third grade. I only knew that nearly half the boys carried backpacks with some weird yellow shape on them. I'm in the minority, though. Lots of other people like them. And, thus why the trailer for such a movie pushed its article into this list.
19	List of Bollywood films of 2018	335,791	There's been 3 movies released (Fanney Khan, Mulk, and Karwaan), helped by the fact that this is usually fairly popular anyway.
20	Rebecca Ferguson	320,842	Is in Mission: Impossible. So another film-related entry. Shocking.
21	6ix9ine	315,994	Down from #7. He was beaten and burgled on the 22nd. Apparently Wikipedia finds that notable.
22	List of Marvel Cinematic Universe films	313,877	Here because of Infinity War. r/thanosdidnothingwrong says hi.
23	M. Karunanidhi	313,633	A former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, he was admitted to the hospital. Hopefully he doesn't go the same way as David Cassidy August 7 addition- he has passed.
24	Dry county	313,155	Reddit again, this time learning that counties that prohibit the sale of alcohol actually doesn't help the fatalities from drunk driving. Just the opposite, actually.
25	Hammer-headed bat	303,823	Another Reddit (that also appeared elsewhere) to round off the list. A bizarre-looking creature made its rounds online.
