The coordination team of the coordination department are the points of contact that have been designated for issues that are related to the project, and they are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and procedures. However, they do not have any authority over the content of articles or the behavior of editors, nor do they have any other special powers.

Current composition[edit]

  • None (Acting Lead Coordinator: CROIX)

What exactly are the coordinators responsible for?[edit]

The WikiProject's most important administrative function is carried out by the coordinating team. There is a possibility that perhaps three coordinators will be selected to handle the general departments. These departments are the Assessment Department, the Education & resources Department, the Community Affairs Department, and the Coordination Department itself, which is supervised by the Lead Coordinator. It is possible that other members of the Coordination Department who were not given responsibility for a department will be given oversight over a task force, work group, or sub department. A Vice Lead Coordinator needs to be designated for the coordination team as well. This individual is often a member who is an overseer of one of the four primary departments.

How do people get chosen to be coordinators?[edit]

The coordination team is made up of no more than five elected members. The elections team is responsible for providing oversight of the voting process. Any participant in the WikiProject has the ability to put oneself forward for membership on the coordinating team. After a voting period of fourteen days, a straightforward vote of yes or no determines which 5 members with the highest scores will be invited to join the team. The two candidates with the highest scores are then automatically nominated for the job of lead coordinator. After that, the two candidates will compete against one another in a separate election to determine whether or not they will serve in the role of lead coordinator.

The lead coordinator will then decide which task forces and/or departments each of the other coordinators will be responsible for managing and representing. No coordinator may serve the WikiProject without a portfolio unless given permission to do so by the majority of the project's members.

In the event that there is not a lead coordinator, the coordination team will decide on an individual to fill the role of lead coordinator in the event that one is not already present.

Every year, elections for the coordination team are held from the 21st of June until the 5th of July. The entire outgoing coordination team will resign on July 5th, with the exception of the Lead Coordinator and Vice Lead Coordinator, who will resign once both roles are elected and appointed. The elections for the coordination team take place from the 21st of June until the 5th of July. The coordinating team does not impose any term limits on its members.

There is also a position known as senior coordinator, which is automatically filled by any previous coordinators or acting coordinators who have served for more than a month after they have been removed from their previous position. This position is known as the senior coordinator role. During the course of each election, the powers of the senior coordinators might be redefined or altered; however, these individuals will continue to serve in their capacity as senior coordinators indefinitely.

History of the coordination department[edit]

On March 7th, 2023, the department of coordination was established as a separate entity. Since then, there has not been any progress made toward the formation of a coordination team.

As a result of the fact that the WikiProject was only a very modest undertaking when the coordination department was initially established, it was decided that, at some point in the not too distant future, an actual coordination team would be established. Up until that point, the entirety of the WikiProject will be responsible for carrying out the responsibilities of the coordination team.

It was decided that the coordinating team would be formed if the WikiProject had five active members. This decision was made on March 21st, 2023. However, on the same day, an acting coordinating team was established, beginning the history of the coordination team.

The coordination department has since been vastly shrunk to prevent the project from becoming overly hierarchical.
