That's a copyright violation. Please see WP:COPYPASTE. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:10, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there... Not sure why my article is stuck in "articles for creation." Any help would be much appreciated. I did not create this wiki page about me...

If you are referring to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Joe Russell, that seems to be an article creation draft with few or no reliable sources. Do you have any questions about it, or about the article creation process? Wikipedia articles require references to independent reliable sources - see WP:VRS for more information. Hi, could you possibly tell me why my article submission, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Todd Ross (politician), was rejected yesterday? And what can I do to resubmit and ensure that it won't be rejected again? How do I do this properly?

Thx 14:27, 29 August 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.231.178.39 (talk)

  • The submission was rejected because it was blank. Did you press "Show preview" and assume it had saved? You need to press "Save page" to ensure your changes are properly committed. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:35, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that Wikipedia is not interested in being part of a candidate for political office's election campaign. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:33, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reference requirement[edit]

Why are new articles required to have references? There are plenty of unreferenced Wikipedia articles without references. Why should they be favored just because they're older than new articles? Is there some sort of cleanup drive angling to delete all of them? I say just slap a citation needed tag on it and let it stand. The current policy, allowing unreferenced articles to exist while smacking down new articles for the same problem, is unfair and misguided.

(I would make an exception if the article is clearly BS and the information isn't supported anywhere else, or if it doesn't come up in a quick Google search.) Brutannica (talk) 20:11, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you find an unreferenced Wikipedia article, that means no one has noticed it. Any unreferenced article needs to be improved or deleted. Just because there are bad articles on Wikipedia doesn't mean that we should add more. Howicus (talk) 21:33, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright[edit]

I wrote an article, The Ambivalent Love Addict and it was deleted for copyright infringement. I am the copyright holder but nobody will believe me. Five Sisters Ranch plagiarized the article and you mistakenly believe they own the article. I do. Why won't you believe me and why did you delete the discussion I was having to resolve this. If you google susan Peabody ambivalent love addict you will find statement that I was the first person to use this term. I have also written two articles both of which I submitted. YOu don't seem to like me. Why don't you believe that I own the copyright. Why would I lie. Even your own website under the title love addiction accepts me as the author of this term and the articles I have written about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Susanpeabody490 (talkcontribs) 20:15, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a matter of personal dislike, but of the law. Even if you originally wrote that piece I see no indication that you have released it under a free license so that everybody may re-use and modify it for any purpose, including commercial purposes. Since you accused Five Sisters Ranch of "plagiarizing" your work, that doesn't seem to be the case. Thus the text is not appropriate for Wikipedia. Since the text is also written like an essay and cites no reliable sources, it would have to be rewritten almost entirely anyway. Thus it's easier to rewrite it from scratch than to bother with the licensing.
If you want to go the licensing route, see WP:Donating copyrighted content for details on how to do so. Huon (talk) 10:58, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I submitted a request for my reviewer to assist me, but as of yet there has been no response. Here is my request: Regarding; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Brittany_Lee

I appreciate your efforts to keep Wiki submissions legitimate and accurate, and I intend to do so as well by submitting articles I know to contain verifiable content. I recently submitted an article for a friend of mine by the name of Brittany Lee who works as a professional model. I worked with her to confirm the content, and I did my best to follow the Wiki format. The article was flagged for deletion and when I sent a reply asking for details on what I needed to change, edit, or delete to comply, my article was deleted without reply. I take issue with this as I used other Wiki articles of models as a format. They are similar in content, yet mine was deleted without an option to modify. Please review again and give me some guidance as to what modifications I can make to allow the article to be posted.

Jtshannoniii (talk) 21:28, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article was unduly promotional and didn't establish that Lee is notable enough for an article in the first place. It didn't cite a single reliable, independent source. Huon (talk) 10:58, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You claim the article is "unduly" promotional, and she is not "notable"? She competed against thousands of of other women to win first place in a national contest and was declared one of the hottest 100 women in the nation. She is listed on IMDB as an actress and you don't find her "notable". What kind of criteria are you looking for? And I have asked several times for guidance, not crass remarks.

Jtshannoniii (talk) 21:33, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the news or magazine article about her "national contest" win? Anybody who has ever been anywhere near a movie production has a page on IMDb, where the content is not checked by editors, so it is not a usable source for the purpose of establishing notability <- this page contains the criteria you seek, the short version is that substantial coverage in multiple independent, reliable sources is required to prove notability. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:20, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, our company submission was refused by Pakithedjay, who is now blocked by Ponyo for abusing multiple accounts.

Would appreciate your assistance.

Talibro (talk) 22:23, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

While the reviewer's sockpuppetry is unfortunate, I have to agree that the draft doesn't show that the company has received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources; thus it isn't notable by Wikipedia's standards. Furthermore, you should have a look at Wikipedia's guideline on conflits of interest and at our username policy: Your username is a violation of that policy because it's the name of a company. Wikipedia accounts are for individuals, not for corporations; we don't allow shared editing. You should have your account renamed to one that represents you as an individual or you may be blocked from editing. Huon (talk) 10:58, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have just submitted a page from my sandbox entitled Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/ PS Power and Sample Size Software for publication on Wikipedia. Wikipedia responded that my page was under consideration but gave two warnings. The first was

"Warning: This page should probably be located at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/sandbox (move)."

Does this mean that I have submitted my page to the wrong place? I would be happy to have it reviewed where ever it would be most convenient for Wikipedia editors.

The second warning was

"Warning: A page with this title exists. Please make sure that this proposed article does not already exist or that it does not need to be moved to a different title."

I am unable to find a page with the same title on Wikipedia. Am I missing something?

Please let me know if I should take any further action at this time, or if I should just wait for my submission to be reviewed.

Best wishes,

Likelihoodist (talk) 23:09, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The algorithm that produces that warning is bad at guessing what the page's title should be and assumed it should be titled "sandbox". I have moved the draft to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/PS Power and Sample Size, the preferred location for drafts awaiting review. You should also have a look at WP:SELFCITE and WP:COI.
