This page outlines how baseball projects maintain assessment through the {{WikiProject Baseball}} template.

Assessment[edit]

Individual projects maintain assessment through the main {{WikiProject Baseball}} template. Please do not create an individual banner as this just clutters up talk pages and causes more work, everything shown on an individual banner will be shown on the main project's one. This is done fairly easily. For full parameters please check the documentation. For example:

{{WikiProject Baseball
|class=Stub
|importance=Low
|yankees=yes
|yankees-importance=Mid
}}

Will show:

WikiProject iconBaseball: Yankees NA‑class Low‑importance
WikiProject iconThis article is within the scope of WikiProject Baseball, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of baseball on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can join the discussion and see a list of open tasks.
NAThis article has been rated as NA-class on Wikipedia's content assessment scale.
LowThis article has been rated as Low-importance on the project's importance scale.

This article is supported by WikiProject New York Yankees (assessed as Mid-importance).

Adding a project to the banner[edit]

If you create a new baseball project, it can easily be added to the template {{WikiProject Baseball}} to allow the project to have assessment. Do not edit this template if you do not understand what you are doing. The template is present on over 25,000 pages, leave a message on the Template talk:WikiProject Baseball talk page, and someone will update the template accordingly.

MLB team projects are standardised to the following:

Main category:

The categories will need to be made once the project has been added to the banner and will automatically be assessed into appropriate categories through parameters on the banner.

MLB team projects parameters use the teams nickname. For example, New York Yankees uses yankees=yes and yankees-importance=. Class is automatically carried on through the main class= parameter. This way, an article of Low importance to baseball in general, but mid or high importance to the New York Yankees can be assessed as such like in the example above.

Syntax for banner[edit]

The following is the appropriate syntax for adding a project to the banner, using St. Louis Cardinals as an example.

 |tf 2={{{cardinals|}}}
  |TF_2_LINK            = Wikipedia:WikiProject St. Louis Cardinals
  |TF_2_NAME = WikiProject St. Louis Cardinals
  |TF_2_NESTED          = Cardinals
  |TF_2_IMAGE           = Fredbird head.jpg
   |TF_2_SIZE           = 35px
  |TF_2_TEXT            = <!-- LEAVE BLANK -->
  |TF_2_QUALITY         = yes
  |TF_2_IMPORTANCE      = yes
   |tf 2 importance={{{cardinals-importance|}}}
   |TF_2_ASSESSMENT_CAT = St. Louis Cardinals articles
  |TF_2_MAIN_CAT = St. Louis Cardinals articles

The following also needs to be added to display the nested name correctly.

  |tf 2={{{cardinals|}}}
  |TF_2_LINK           = Wikipedia:WikiProject St. Louis Cardinals
  |TF_2_NESTED         = Cardinals

In this example, 2 will need to be replaced with the next appropriate number in the template. For more information on this, please read the documentation at Template:WPBannerMeta. All changes should be tested in Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox and Template:WikiProject Baseball/testcases before adding.
