On December 30, at Mr Accountable's request, the first department was created: Interwikis department.
Being a member of a department is completely optional. Specifically, departments specialize in improving Wikipedia in certain areas. The Interwikis department specializes in improving Boston Red Sox-related articles in different languages.
Feel free to look at the main departments page or the Interwikis department page and add, improve, or change anything. They are still new, so there isn't much content there yet.
Stormtracker94 created two more departments: Players and History. Both relate, simply enough, to their title.

This past week, HPJoker's userpage was nominated for deletion. He got to keep his user page. The news section is still up there.
