Description[edit]

This project aims to create an article for all the Biological databases that have been described in the academic world, using the Template:infobox biodatabase.Those databases have been described in pubmed, in the Database issue of Nucleic Acids Research and are listed the following (incomplete) list: http://www.oxfordjournals.org/nar/database/cap . Nevertheless, due to the high number of those databases (more than 1000) it is difficult for the biologists to find the one that will fulfill their needs (Is it still active ? Does it have a web service ? is it possible to download its data ? etc...) Later, using the infoboxes, the categories and the mediawiki API a tool could be created to quickly browse the existing databases Plindenbaum (talk) 16:39, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The following XSLT stylesheet (https://gist.github.com/768553) pubmed4biodb.xsl can be used to quiclky create a draft from an article in Pubmed. e.g with Xsltproc:

Would you consider incorporating this effort into the Wikipedia:WikiProject Molecular and Cellular Biology? It's a large and active community with more people who are likely to contribute.--Paul (talk) 17:32, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. My advice would be to try and tap the largest and most active relevant WikiProject(s). You're more likely to get contributors that way. We decided to roll the RNA WikiProject back into MCB because of this. --Paul (talk) 20:09, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
