This series of lists is intended to include:
1. Films that have been entered as red links, either because they have no article or because the existing article has a different title. If you happen to find an existing article (under another title) to which one of the red links should point, please change the link, and mention this in the edit summary.
2. Films which have been screened in important film festivals but which have no article and have been entered either as red links, or not linked. This category is given separately in each list and contains films that may not necessarily be important enough to have an article. Their inclusion as red links in the lists is mainly done to help disambiguation of titles.
Adding or adopting films without an article[edit]
Users can either , add notable films without an article to this list, or adopt a film for developing an article.
When adding a film, please, include its most notable factor. This could be an important director, or starring actor, an award or important nomination. If a film's year is not known, please, do not enter it in the ordered list, or give approximate year, but enter it below, in the Unsorted list of each decade, or if unsure of decade, in this page's Unsorted list.
Before adopting a film, please search to make sure that another article on the film doesn't already exist by searching for it using the search button (rather than the go button) in the search field on the left. Also, check the film naming conventions in order to name your article consistent with other film articles.
In adopting a film, please, remember that the point of starting an article is to make a useful and informative article in Wikipedia. Please, avoid starting a big number of stubs, unless you believe that the articles are important, or unless you plan to develop them later. At best, try to find films that you feel motivated to bring to basic class start articles (see grading scheme). Users who consider a film important, but cannot contribute, please, copy its title (as given here) to the Requested movie articles list.
When an article has been created, please, do not remove the title or the link from the list, unless it has been assessed, sorted and assigned the proper categories.
Guidelines for adding films[edit]
Some films may be followed by other known titles. Non-English titles may be followed by the English title in parentheses, or English titles may be followed by the original language title in parentheses. One more alternative name may also be given. These titles are also red links, so that if an article is created under such a title, this will become obvious by the link becoming blue. Please do not list more than two alternative titles, and list these alternative titles only if they are found in major Internet databases as the main film title.

In this way, this list becomes an instant visual monitor of articles created, since their link becomes blue. However if one wants to start an article on a red title, it is recommended to make some searches in Wikipedia first. Film project members can also pick from this list the freshly created articles for further linking into various categories, lists, etc.
A film title of the form Title of Film (film) or Title of Film (YYYY film), should not be piped, so that users can easily determine whether another article exists under the same film title.

Marking films not considered worth an article[edit]
If an article is justifiably considered as too unimportant to ever obtain an article, please, include: No importance after it. Also if a film marked as No importance is found to be of some importance, please, add a note about it.
Note: Short films may also be notable films. Before marking a short film as No importance, please, check for awards and film festival participation or other notability factor.
