Rawr! Oh wait, octopi don't roar.

Welcome to WikiProject Mass surveillance. Several Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of mass surveillance and the organization of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

Open tasks[edit]

More work needs to be done on Consent search, Terry stop, and a page needs to be created for Pretextual stop, which redirects currently. In addition, Traffic stop should outline all the ways the government is using traffic enforcement to fight the war on drugs and terrorism. People who are interested should start posting suggestions on the talk pages in those respective topics. Thanks.

Feel free to expand this list!

In the news[edit]

Timely items may be candidates for WP:ITN - in any case, deserve coverage.

  • MYSTIC program (RETRO tool) recording and storing every single conversation in an 'unnamed country' for 30 days. [1][2][3]
  • Panetta Review - a bizarre instance of Congress actually trying to oversee the CIA (epic fail). [4]
  • Coronavirus app - implementation of mass surveillance platforms to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in a significant number of countries worldwide

Drafts and stubs for improvement[edit]

New articles (or moved from Draft:) and DYKs under discussion[edit]

Please feel free to list your new Mass surveillance-related articles here (newer articles at the top, please). Any new articles that have an interesting or unusual fact in them, are at least over 1,500 characters, don't have any dispute templates on them, and cite their sources, should be suggested for the Did you know? box on the Wikipedia Main Page. Note there is a five day deadline from when the article is created or moved to main article space to when the DYK must be filed. Articles are nominated and discussed at WP:DYKN.
