Gosse was a South Australian who was awarded the George Cross, the highest award for heroism or courage, not in the face of the enemy, that could be awarded to a member of the Australian armed forces at the time, for disarming three German naval mines under exceptionally hazardous conditions towards the end of WWII. I decided to work on this as an extension of my work on getting the South Australian Victoria Cross recipients to FA. I think you should unlink the second link of each link in the body and lead. Because this article is really small so linking once is enough.

This is a pretty well written article, so it was hard to find things to improve.

he served aboard the County-class heavy cruisers HMAS Australia and Canberra. The ADB entry seems more clearly phrased in this case when it adds "successively". Perhaps you could rephrase this sentence to reflect the sequence?
promoted to midshipman in May 1930 --> promoted to midshipman in May of that year
Gosse was promoted to acting --> He was promoted to acting

I searched Gosse on Trove, but the only new information I could find was that he collapsed from nervous strain after speaking at a series of recruiting rallies in 1950, though I'm not sure how significant this is in the long run Kges1901 (talk) 23:59, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

G'day Kges1901, turns out that isn't easy to do. I'd imagine the WA government probably has a document that could be used, but I can't find one online. I couldn't find anything at RSN about Monuments Australia, but I'd prefer to steer clear, as this is going to FAC, and I doubt it will survive a source check there. Source Review

Secondary sources used for the bulk of the article are reliable and the nominal rolls and service record are used to supplement them appropriately. The references are formatted consistently. Gosse is mentioned in these two [2] [3] Australian books, which might be duplicative of the ADB entry and the Staunton entry. Kges1901 (talk) 11:35, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

added Firkins as that is a find, and have requested scans of the relevant pages as there seems to be a bit on him there. Wigmore I have a copy of, and it only contains an index-type entry for GC recipients: name, date, short description of the GC actions, dates of birth and death, that's about it.
