Proprietors of Wells River Bridge[edit]

Location and General Description of Property[edit]

The property of Proprietors of Wells River Bridge consists of a bridge, approximately 333 feet in length, which crosses the Connecticut River from Woodsville, N. H., to Wells River, Vt. This property is operated by the carrier through the Concord & Montreal, by which it is controlled. One deck is used for pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Corporate History[edit]

The Proprietors of Wells River Bridge was incorporated under a special act of New Hampshire of December 27, 1803, for the purpose of constructing and operating a toll bridge across the Connecticut River at Wells River, Vt. The Concord and Montreal Railroad and the carrier own about 82 and 18 per cent, respectively, of the outstanding capital stock. The principal office is at Concord, N. H. The accounting records of the company are incomplete.
