This information comes from early reports (1909-1912, 1913-1914, 1915-1920), the history PDFs, and laws. It covers actions until 1953, when the PDFs have better detail.

Important note: the State Road Commission was created in 1909, and was initially authorized to choose almost any major county roads, with some restrictions, to be state roads. Federal aid began in 1917, and in 1919 the legislature greatly restricted the scope of the state road system to include only a short list of routes (initially lettered) and federal aid projects. So if it was added before 1919, and was not in the 1919 law or a federal aid project, it ceased being a state road at that time.

Original 1920s numbers were 1-17 (17 became 41 in 1927). The legislature assigned a complete numbering system in 1927.
