Liberty City (fictional)[edit]

Fictional city and setting from Grand Theft Auto III and several other GTA games. While this largely covers a fictional game setting, the location had a considerable amount of history, background and details on its locales. The article was mostly expanded in the past two months by me to include details on the city and its appearances in all relevant titles. Some sources have been cited, but may require more revision or clarification and review by those knowledgeable of the portable system renditions (GBA and PSP versions) and The Introduction movie. This article may also require professional rewriting and rewording. Other comments and pointers for improvements are welcomed. ╫ ２５ ◀RingADing▶ 15:12, 8 January 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Three quick observations;
  1. The article would benefit from a lead image, Image:GTAIII PC City View Bedford Point Times Square.jpg would do nicely.
  2. All images (or most of them anyways), apart from Image:GTAIII Liberty City map.png, are lacking Fair use rationale.
  3. The article speaks of a Maibatsu Corporation......are you sure it's not Zaibatsu?

  2. Done, except Image:GTA1 Liberty City map.png.
  3. As far as it is shown, there has not been any clue to suggest the Maibatsu Coporation is related to Zaibatsu Pharmaceuticals (also the manufacturer of the Equinox drug in GTA III), although they are similar in naming and are both essentially companies.

Great, thanks. Now into the more detailed stuff;
  1. Liberty City is a fictional city in the Grand Theft Auto (GTA, Rockstar North/DMA Design) series.... The GTA abbreviaton is unneeded, so is Rockstar's former name, and so I suggest this sentence: Liberty City is a fictional city in Rockstar Game's hit Grand Theft Auto series....
  2. Parts of Liberty City have also suffered major damage and loss from bombings, which are depicted orchestrated by local criminals. Shouldn't there be something between depicted and orchestrated, such as as being?
  3. Manhunt, also produced by Rockstar North...isn't Rockstar Games the producer, and Rockstar North the developer?
  4. The paragraph above the heading Boroughs and under the Spoiler ends here tag should be placed under the heading of Boroughs.
  5. Article is too big, perhaps you could omit the Additional screenshots section, though I don't know how much that would reduce the size of the article.
  6. Shouldn't the section be called Notes and references instead of References and notes? I realize I'm being nitpicky here.
You're right, it does need a major copyedit; I'll see what I can do. The article has been a really interesting read, though, and is right up there with the FAs. LordViD 14:53, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alright...
  1. Fixed the intro sentence, although I still have doubts using Rockstar Games instead of Rockstar North here. But I also found that Liberty City Stories was developed by Rockstar Leeds, so Rockstar North isn't completely responsible for the development of the series.
  2. Done.
  3. Changed "produced" to "developed". I believe Take-Two Interactive is now responsible for publishing the games; Rockstar Games is simply known as the umbrella name for video game development studios bearing the Rockstar nameplates. You were right. Rockstar Games is responsible for publishing the games, Take-Two distributes them.
  4. Done.
  5. This may require some discussion among a few more editors. The screenshots are useful in illustrating the city, which has a significant variety of locations and areas. I'm for sliming the article down, although I have other parts of the article in mind.
  6. Done. A check in Wikipedia:Citing sources#What to call the References section when using footnotes backs up your recommendation.

  • I don't think Rockstar North is appropriate here; you said yourself that Rockstar Leeds made GTA:LCS, and Rockstar Vienna made the Xbox version of GTAVC; so saying that Rockstar North is responsible for the whole GTA series is wrong. Rockstar Games is the umbrella company for all these. and is responsible for every GTA edition. If you're not convinced, you can use Take-Two Interactive if you wish, but Rockstar North is wrong.
