Welcome to WikiProject Women in Red (WiR)! Our objective is to turn red links into blue ones. Our project's scope is women's representation on all language Wikipedias (biographies, women's works, women's issues, broadly construed). Did you know that, according to Humaniki, only 19.81% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women? Not impressed? Content gender gap is a form of systemic bias, and this is what WiR addresses. We invite you to participate, whenever you like, in whatever way suits you and your schedule. Editors of all genders are equally and warmly welcome at Women in Red!

Thanks to the success of women associated with the name May both last year and this, we've decided to focus on those born in July as well as all the corresponding names. These include (in alphabetical order) Djuna, Djune, Giulia, Juliam Julie, Juliet, Juliette, Junia and Yoon. There must be many more in non-Latin scripts. Women born in the month of July can also be covered.

Anyone can take part in this event. We hope both inexperienced and seasoned editors will join us in creating biographies and other articles about women associated with Julie or July, as well as their achievements, writings, organizations, and awards. This virtual editathon allows enthusiasts wherever they may be to participate in our initiative. Contributors are of course also welcome to add articles on any other notable women who deserve to be covered, for example under our #1day1woman priority.

The main goals of the event are:

• to encourage inexperienced editors and show them how they can contribute to Wikipedia by creating biographies of some of the world's most prominent women
• to draw the attention of more experienced editors to the need for concerted action on a specific area
• to support Wikipedia in combating the systemic bias against the coverage of women and women's works
• to promote the new/improved articles and images through social media (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter)

• Elżbieta Korompay Polish underground agent. Captured by the Gestapo they tried to force her to meet with his fellow agents in cafes, but she managed to warn them not to approach by her behaviour. Tortured to death.
• Ewelina Nowak Polish Army medic, highly decorated and killed during the Battle of Kolberg (1945)
• Stefania Szantyr-Powolna Polish Army doctor and lieutenant-colonel
• Sofia Pomba Guerra Portuguese pharmacist who fought for the communist movements in Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique
• Nesta Pain (27 July 1905 to 23 July 1995.) brought science to the BBC (ODNB and here)
