This is a 400 level undergraduate course titled Strategies for Employment for Persons with Disabilities. In Fall 2023 I will be teaching this course as 7 week blended synch and asynch online course. I propose that the students/class completes some of the edits/new pages listed below depending how many students end up in the course, what we don't finish this fall, another class will pick up next fall).

I have reviewed the existing Wiki pages and would like to assign a list of topics for students to choose from. If possible I would like us to have a single page Strategies for Employment, and from there to link to the existing content, which we would also edit. I hope this makes sense. It would certainly be good to speak to a Wiki staff to think the organization more, but I hope that the plan below suffices for this application at this time.

Create a New Page: Strategies for employment for persons with disabilities

History and Philosophy (I, the instructor, would write this framing) Why are people with disabilities seen as needing assistance in employment? What has influenced changes in strategies overtime? Who provides services in the US? What are the most common strategies in the US? (below)

Subtitle: Institutionalized employment - new Asylums and orphanages - document that disabled inmates worked for these institutions

Subtitle: Community-based institutionalized employment - new Sheltered workshops: frame as a strategy of employment, include critique (link to the existing information in Goodwill; subwages and link to FLSA) Activity work centers - new

Subtitle: Community -based integrated employment strategies

Customized employment link to the existing page and edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Customized_employment especially sections on: Job carving Job coaching Self employment

Supported employment- frame as an employment strategy and link to the existing page which needs edits https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supported_employment edit

Marketing of disabled people as workers - add new Business case for disability employment VR as LMI
