This course provides an overview of the history, practices, and key areas of the discipline of communication studies. The course serves as an introduction to several areas of communication research, including rhetoric, interpersonal communication, listening, mediated communication, and intercultural communication. Students will be introduced to the theoretical and practical applications of the discipline and will develop an understanding of various research methods and theories relevant to the study of communication. For the Wikipedia assignments, students will practice relevant research, critical thinking, and writing skills using a digital communication medium.
