From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

User:Snowspinner has frequently been at the center of controversies, particularly ones surrounding his use of administrator powers. Some see Snowspinner as being needlessly dismissive of criticism and quick to judge users he considers to be "problem users," at times trolling them into crossing the line so that he can ban them. Snowspinner has also been criticized for not contributing enough to the encyclopedia.

I'll hold my tongue on this one for obvious reasons, though I'm interested to see what other people have to say.

"not contributing enough to the encyclopedia"[edit]

Well, gosh darn it all, just dock his pay !! What's half of nuthin' again ? 4.250.132.205 22:32, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What s/he said. Also there are lots of housekeepers, wikignomes, and wheel-oilers around this place, who perform indispensable tasks while they don't contribute much to actual articles. These users are normally praised for their usefulness and made welcome; are they all to be censored now, or is it just Snowspinner? Conversely, other users add a lot of content but do no housekeeping, should we censor them for imbalance also? One of the great things of the wiki system is that we can all pitch in with the kind of work we like: it's the joint effort that needs to be balanced, not the individual one. This is such a non-point! Bishonen | talk 11:43, 14 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Are you kidding? There's a big difference between housekeeping and what Snowspinner does. Even he would admit, I suppose, that most of his time is spent trying to get users he doesn't like penalized. A lot of us feel like we could put up with him a little more if we felt he was giving back to us instead of just taking from us. And also that if he involved himself in editing more he might gain a better understanding of the realities here. Everyking 04:40, 15 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I hope that you'll ask the vague "a lot of us" to also weigh in here. I'd like very much to hear from them. Snowspinner 05:07, July 15, 2005 (UTC)
Housekeeping? How does fouling up the air in the house make it a better place to be in? -- Grace Note

The obvious comment[edit]

Wikipedia would fall apart without Snowspinner. --SPUI (talk) 23:24, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the sentiment, but I suspect y'all would somehow find a way to get along. ;) Snowspinner 23:31, July 12, 2005 (UTC)
