Liaquat Ali Khan

I have greatly improved the article regarding LIAQUAT ALI KHAN and have asked for a peer review for the article. I have tagged all the images and have wikified and also provided numerous source citations. Recently it recieve a "B" rating from wikipedia Biography portal. So I ask you to review and give me suggestion so we can improve it.

I've added another informal review with suggestions on Liaquat's talk board. Hope this helps! -- TinaSparkle 22:59, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Government & Politics

There is a lot of unnecessary information in this section, making it long and unorganized. Current events do not belong in this section. If anyone is up for cleaning this section up, take a look at other "government & politics" sections on WP first to see what I'm talking about. Thanks. Afinebalance 01:20, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Actor politicians?

Hi, are there any articles on Wikipedia about Pakistani actor-politicians? If there are any, you may want to add the Category:Actor-politicians to such articles. Thanks, --Gurubrahma 06:10, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Featured Articles Collaborations

Does anyone have any interest in doing collaboration efforts in order to turn articles in featured articles? It looks like the Pakistan article will soon be featured and there are several Pakistan related articles that are not far from being featured as well. Pepsidrinka 05:31, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

I would be interested in collaboration as I note this noticeboard seems a little neglected. Green Giant 06:02, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Off the top of my head, I know there are several articles that are close to featured article status. Military of Pakistan, History of Pakistan, and 2005 South Asia earthquake all are extensive articles that greatly cover their respective topics. Personally, I would want to make the latter featured due to its international prominence in the news. Though more people probably know less about the military and history of Pakistan, more people would probably be interested in reading a full article about the earthquake. Incidently, the military and the earthquake articles have already been through a FAC so there will be, hopefully, less obstacles once those issues are addressed. I'd like to hear if anyone else has any additonal thoughts, whether on these particular articles, or another article not addressed. Pepsidrinka 14:03, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Portal:Pakistan Ready to use !

I have just got the Portal:Pakistan up and running and it is ready to use, I will continue updating it with articles and images as the weeks go on. Last Friday was WEEK ONE as i posted the first ariticle and image for the portal and I shall change the article and image this friday 24 March 2006, so if you have any ideas let me know.

Some things that need to be sorted;

  • This noticeboard is in no condition to be used. I think it needs to be rewritten and reader friendly. We need more collaborations and wikiprojects as their is a lot of sorting out to be done. Lots of articles are almost featured articles e.g. Economy of Pakistan, Transportation in Pakistan that could be reviewed by an external user to check grammer and tenses.
  • We need to put more awareness of the Portal and noticeboard so we can attract more users that may have alot background knowledge on Pakistan.
WIKI-Pakistan Moniker
  • We need more templates, look at the following styles used on the Indian noticeboard, maybe someone can make some similiar ones for Pakistan, with colours of gold, silver, white and dark green to represent the national and political flags;

Templates from Indian noticeboard

  • We have a new Pakistan Wiki-moniker, that can be changed to create specific monikers for people working on Pakistan article; e.g. A person working on economic articles may like to add a Rupee (RS) sign to the Wiki-moniker etc..

Lets get going !! Fast track 06:03 23 March 2006 (UTC)

NPOV map of India

Hi! I've made a hi-res SVG map of India and have put it up as a featured picture candidate on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Blank map of India. I've tried to make the map as neutral as possible encompassing each country's claim and administration. If you have any comments on it please let me know on Image talk:India-locator-map-blank.svg. Jinnah

Great job with the organization guys, keep it up. I have one important request to make. Why are we letting some indians get away with calling Jinnah controversial in his Wikipedia article?? Surely that can be mentioned later than the first paragraph.

Is there anything untrue about the following:

Jinnah is celebrated as a great leader in Pakistan where the people revere him as the hero who helped fulfill their centuries-long aspiration of having a separate state for the Muslims of the Subcontinent. Critics, mostly Indian, who view the partition of India as a great tragedy often criticise Jinnah because of his highly influential role in the creation of Pakistan.

If not, then why do the Indians keep cutting it out? Also, compare that to Gaandi's page...look how flowery it is

Remember people, without Jinnah there is no Pakistan or India let alone Bangladesh!!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.25.124.253 (talkcontribs) .

I think your suggested paragraph seriously contravenes Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, I'm afraid. For example, how can you prove that "the people" of Pakistan revere him? All the people? Just logically it would seem likely that some don't like him at all. Do you have impartial surveys to back up how many Pakistanis revere him? You just can't make this kind of statement without evidence. Similarly, you can't say that most of his critics are Indian, unless you can prove it. Personally I think it quite likely that a large number of his critics are Indian, especially bearing in mind that there are a billion Indians, but this isn't the point! You can't make generalisations.
Meanwhile, your assertion that implicitly all Muslims had demanded a separate state in the subcontinent for centuries is just factually wrong. Some may have, but not all. Even in 1946 about 25% of Muslim voters in India voted against the Muslim League. In the 1930s it was over 95%.
Incidentally, I agree with you that the Gandhi article is flowery, but that's a separate problem. We would set a far better example if, instead of aping the Gandhi article, we made sure Jinnah's was fair, neutral and encyclopedic. -- TinaSparkle 22:20, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Articles on Northern Pakistan

See this set of placemarks: Northern Pakistan - highly detailed placemarks of towns, villages, peaks, glaciers, rivers and minor tributaries in Google Earth

How about a collaboration on the places mentioned here that have no articles on wikipedia? Because all the placemarks show everything around a town or a village or a peak, we could start by adding the location, the district and the surroundings of the subject. Once we have articles, others who know more about the places will start adding to it. Otherwise, one is very reluctant to start a new page because one doesn't know much about it. Like if you know an interesting bit about Rupal Valley but it's a non-existing page, it's unlikely that you'd create a new article on it, if you get what I mean... India -> India + Pakistan + Bangladesh

There is a discussion going on related to India before and after 1947. Following is statement which gives you idea, please read whole discussion before editing:

India after 1947 consists of three countries, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. When we use word India, in articles, refereeing to whole India, links are such that they bring us to present day India (Republic of India), reducing size of pre-1947 India considerably. Is it possible that when we refer to pre-1947 India we use a term which encompasses whole India not just present day India? Please comment. This is ridiculous.India was no more of a country pre-1947 than Pakistan.Indicating that pre-British south Asia was "India" is like indicating that olden day east Asia was "China" Ive discussed this too many times before.Nadirali 06:33, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Nadirali

The article Phajje ke Paye is up for deletion because of doubts whether it is notable or not. Please note that the article is not up for deletion, since the Deletion review is not an AfD process. Also note that the discussion is not even about the notability, but about verifiability issues "due to multiple possible translations of the name into the English alphabet." But most importantly: never engage in voter canvassing. Argue your case, as you have done on the deletion review, but do not request others to vote to keep the article. Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:39, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

The page Khan Habibullah Khan has been undergoing a slow edit war for the past several months since I saved it from AfD by cutting it down to a stub and providing a few references that indicated that he was indeed a notable Pakistani politician. The article right now has become an awful mess that I can't sort out or make heads or tails of. The several editors on the page go back and forth disputing references and whatnot. It needs wikification badly, but I'm not sure what stuff is junk and what stuff should be kept, so I thought I'd bring the issue up here. Best, Irongargoyle 22:22, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Need help with a user

You can read the full report at here. Basically, Muhammadhani (talk · contribs) is moving articles by cut and pasting them instead of using the "move" functionality, generating history splits. The user has been warned several times to stop doing so, but he apparently does not acknowledge the messages, or he forgets about them. Articles that currently need a history merge (or at least, administrator intervention in order to fix the moves) are:

  1. Daily Express, Pakistan to Daily Express (Urdu Newspaper)
  2. Mahmudabad, Pakistan to Mahmudabad (Karachi)
  3. List of universities in Karachi District to List of universities in Karachi
  4. Buffer Zone-I to Buffer Zone II
  5. Godhra Karachi to Godhra (Karachi)
  6. Khokhra Par (neighborhood) to Khokhra Par (Karachi)
  7. Muzafarabad Karachi to Muzafarabad (Karachi)
  8. Civic Centre Karachi to Civic Centre (Karachi)
  9. Sui (Pakistan) to Sui (Balochistan)

I am not sure whether the new names used by this user or not are correct, that is why I am asking here. Also, note that the user creates unnecessary redirects for films (in example, he created Larki Panjaban (2003 film), a redirect to Larki Panjaban which is not necessary because the target article needs no disambiguation, and then links the disambiguation to List of Lollywood films instead of linking Larki Panjaban directly. I would appreciate if someone from this WikiProject could contact him in his native language, explain to him that he must use the "move" functionality instead of copy/pasting articles, that disambiguations are not really needed, and invite him to this WikiProject so that he can contact you for questions. It becomes a nuisance having to track through his contributions to see if he has done redirects in the wrong way, especially when so many redirects are not really necessary. Thanks in advance. -- ReyBrujo 15:20, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Can some experienced Pakistani editors take a look at the articles referenced in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Naik Mohammedal family of Birote? It's really difficult to dig through this mess, as there might be some encyclopedic value, but it's well hidden behind layers of creator's family history. Duja 14:40, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
