Economy of Pakistan[edit]

I think there's something wrong with the following sentence, from the article on Economy of Pakistan:

"Pakistan ranks forty-first in the world and fifty-fifth worldwide in factory output." I think the wroter meant, forty-first in the Muslim world ... .

Edwardes College[edit]

I have been working on updating and improving the Wikipedia entry for Edwardes College, Peshawar.

You will note that the Edwardes College entry currently has a caution on it that highlights three concerns: basic quality, advertising tone, and lack of references.

I have made a number of improvements in the last day and intend to make many more over the coming weeks from a great deal of reference material available to me. I can vouch right now for the accuracy of the material currently on the page, and I have altered the tone to remove the previous tone of advertising.

When I clicked on the discussion option I was referred to the group working on Pakistan-related topics. My request is to have the caution removed from the top of the page, for I believe the concerns have been adequately addressed, and in the coming weeks the basic content of the page will be increased and substantiated. Suggestions for improvement and streamlining of various articles relating to Pakistan[edit]

Dear All Assalam o aleikum. I am a recent addition to your numbers and am very happy to be associated with the Wikipedia's WikiPakistan project. I have made a few edits after joining up and I hope you will also help me with your feedback. While perusing the Pakistan pages, I have have come across with this problem which Id please like to draw to your notice and Id also like to make some suggestions reg these:

One of the most common problems Im encountering on several pages, is regarding the provincial name/s 'NWFP' and 'Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa' and this is often a matter for concern and contention. Its also very confusing to come across both these names and/or either of these in several related contexts. Might I please propose that (a) in the case of historical articles, at least, dealing with matters prior to 1947, the name NWFP be used? (b) that in case of articles from 1947 to 2010 the term Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa' be used with brackets indicating (formerly NWFP)? and (c) that in all subsequent articles just Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa' be used?

I would be happy to have your responses on this, and to work out some solution, thanks

Demographics of Pakistan - Religions vs Total population[edit]

The UN estimates cited on the page Demographics of Pakistan show a total 2011 population of 173,593,000 yet at item 5. Religion, identification with the religious groups listed totals a population of 186,385,189, a difference of 12.7 million (7.4%).

It should be noted that the total of religious groups excludes the figures cited in the linked article for the "2–5 million members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (who) live ... or were born in Pakistan". A justification that this population should be considered as part of Pakistan's Muslim population is confounded by Wikipedia's Islam in Pakistan page which asserts at item 4. Muslim fiqhs in Pakistan that "... technically Ahmadis are declared non-Muslms (sic)"

It should be noted that "2-5 million" is a considerable range and thus should properly considered by researchers as potentially unreliable. Similarly, the vague "... live ... or were born in Pakistan ..." classification renders the data highly suspicious. In combination these two concerns preclude reasonable reliance on this data, which may explain why it is not included in the Demographics in Pakistan page.

It remains, however, that the discrepancy might be a large as 17.7m (10.25%)

Given that the UN estimates indicate population increase over the decade to 2011 exceeds 20%, the lower of these discrepancies might be dismissed as relatively insignificant. Good practice would surely prompt an explanation - or at least acknowledgement - of this discrepancy. Maintenance of a disciplined use and coordination in the citing demographic data would be most helpful to researchers.

Lollywood and Bollywood- difference defined for Wikipedia Editing Staff[edit]

There is an existing Wikipedia article titled : List of Lollywood actors.I just noticed a Message Box on the very top of this page from Wikipedia Editing Staff suggesting... " It has been suggested that this article be merged into List of Bollywood actors. (Discuss)Proposed since May 2015". I assume it was an unwitting mistake by someone. My question is...Why would Canadian film industry be willing to be listed under Hollywood ? As we know, Bollywood refers to film industry located at Bombay,India.Similarly,Lollywood refers to film industry located at Lahore,Pakistan.Letter L comes from the city of Lahore,Pakistan. My suggestion is that you Merge it with the existing Wikipedia page...List of Pakistani actors,if you do decide to or have to merge it with some other article page for consolidation purpose. In my opinion, that would make more sense.THANKS.....June 1,2015 (Ngrewal1 (talk) 01:52, 2 June 2015 (UTC))[reply]
