First impressions[edit]

Now have subscriber access. Works OK. Great facility. Still struggling to find a way to change my password, the help system says your user name is shown on the navigation bar but it isn't- is it my browser (Firefox)? Will keep looking.Axiosaurus (talk) 09:08, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

From Sandbh: I had a peculiar experience, which I think has something to do with the fact that I'm an affiliate member of the RSC, so I already had a user id and password (but no gold account). I did declare this in the form I had to fill out to process my application for a gold account. Anyway, when I tried logging on, my user id field was already filled out with my affiliate user ID. So I cleared that, typed in my e-mail address as instructed and then my gold account password. Did this several times and kept getting a message saying my user id or my password was wrong. So I tried entering just my e-mail address user id and then pressing "forgot password". That resulted in me getting an e-mail with my affiliate user ID (which I already knew) and a new password. So I logged in with those and that was fine. Then I tried to access an article, with no luck. Then on the article page I logged in again with my e-mail address user id and gold account password, and that worked. I think what happened was that as I already had a user id, the log in interface was associating my e-mail address password with my affiliate password, hence my gold account password wouldn't work. But once I'm logged on under my affiliate membership it seems I can access articles by logging into the journal or article in question with my email user id and my gold account password. I don't have much time just right now to check this all out again. Will try again tomorrow, to make sure everything still works. Strange. I cannot log in with my e-mail address and my RSC gold password. I can log in with my pre-existing RSC user id and password. But I cannot access any articles. To do that I have to log in to the article with my e-mail address and my RSC gold password. Once I do that, article access is OK. If I log off and then log in with my pre-existing RSC user id and password, I can access articles, without having to type in my e-mail address and RSC gold password. Similar experience; I tried logging in using option 1 "Log in with your free Royal Society of Chemistry publishing personal account" and it reported my login as invalid. Trying option 3, "Log in with your subscriber username and password" doesn't complain about what I enter and goes to a search page. It allows me to search, but when I try to access a book chapter, it says I'm not logged in. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 22:40, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The material included in RSC Gold is listed here. If anyone needs access to something not listed, please let me know, explaining why, and I'll see what I can do. Contrary to my original advice, it seems that the system does not allow RSC Gold passwords to be changed by individuals. Apologies for the misinformation. New reference tool[edit]

There is a new Visual Editor reference feature in development called Citoid. It is designed to "auto-fill" references using a URL or DOI. We would really appreciate you testing whether TWL partners' references work in Citoid. Sharing your results will help the developers fix bugs and improve the system.
