section in a table[edit]

james comment#2 states that we have sections in tables. test if this really works and what it produces ...

Foo Bar

Section 1[edit]

Foo bar

Section 2[edit]

Foo bar
That produces rather strange formatting. It's easier to notice with the borders turned on:
Foo Bar

Section 1[edit]

Section 2[edit]

Does it really make sense for an encyclopedia to have a section heading in the second column of a table? Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:24, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Whatamidoing (WMF): Everything in a table has to be in a table cell. Table markup that has anything outside a table cell generates a Fostered content lint error, and the fostered content is moved out of the table. That's what you've done here, with headings outside a table cell. Here are your examples again, with the headings inside table cells:

Section 1[edit]

Section 2[edit]

That produces rather strange formatting. It's easier to notice with the borders turned on:

I hope this explains the issue. Cheers! —Anomalocaris (talk) 20:59, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Update needed[edit]

This page is pretty far out of date, and new bugs are almost never added to it. I'm thinking that the simplest thing to do is to remove anything that is resolved/fixed, so that "known problems" actually lists known problems, rather than former problems. Does anyone have any interest in helping with this? Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:00, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:Whatamidoing (WMF): any idea when this will be updated? I wanted to report a bug / ask about it but no idea where to do it, since this page seems dead... --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:03, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback is the local page for bug reports or other feedback. You can also leave a message on my talk page, if you prefer. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:05, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Update and pinging Whatamidoing (WMF): it seems that there is a proper bug tracker nowadays: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/edit/form/1/?projects=VisualEditor I will also add it below then. Zezen (talk) 13:41, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Browser support[edit]

The list of supported browsers in the "Limited Browser Support" bullet is different than the list in the first row of the first table. Could someone please harmonize these two lists? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 23:02, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

auto scroll during drag[edit]

Is lack of auto scrolling with drag and drop of images a known problem? I do not know but it does not seem to work for me. In long articles, I try and move the images page by page but I need to make artificial paragraph breaks sometimes. And I zoom out text sizes to the bare minimum. Would be nice if the page autoscrolled when the image is at the end of the visible page. Shyamal (talk) 16:31, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, what is your browser/OS/skin? Dragging and dropping works well for me in Chrome, Win10: what I do is I drag my cursor at the top (or at the bottom) of the scrollbar, where the little arrow pointing up (or down) is. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T101628 and https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T53669 may or may not be relevant, given how old they are. VE saving incomplete edits?[edit]

Hi, I didn't see this on the list of known problems, so. How come, on occasion, the v.editor will not save a whole edit, but rather, only a partial one? — fortunavelut luna 08:36, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bug Tracker[edit]

There is a proper VisualEditor bug tracker nowadays: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/edit/form/1/?projects=VisualEditor Trying it now... Zezen (talk) 13:42, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inquiry[edit]

Visual Editor is greyed out for me whenever I try using it on any talk page of any namespace. Even my own talk page, and including this page I'm editing right now, the only option available is source editing. Any fix? - 𓋹 𝓩𝓲𝓪𝓭 𝓡𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓭 𓋹 [user | talk] 01:52, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ziad Rashad, the visual editor isn't enabled for any discussion namespace. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:23, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can't edit Tables[edit]

Hello, I wanted to know why the Visual Editor cannot be used to edit electoral tables. For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_United_States_presidential_election_in_Arizona#Results_by_county. This has been the case for maybe a year now. When will this be fixed? Will it ever be fixed? Calthrina950 (talk) 23:40, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
