Todo list?[edit]

So, we have recently created a todo list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin music, which you can see here. It's more like a "missing articles" list, actually. Maybe we could have one here too! Victão Lopes Fala! 05:54, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, anything that is working elsewhere is at least worth a try here. I like that they have it on a separate page rather than making the main task force page super long. Looks like we could even just start by including a link to that task force, since they have already identified so many Brazilian music–related tasks to be completed. giso6150 (talk) 16:49, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I was thinking of using that list as a starting point - for music, at least. Victão Lopes Fala! 19:15, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to chime in and say that the task force could also benefit from a resources section to help new users. The Latin music project has its own resources page and Victor Lopes included helpful sites for Brazilian music which could also benefit this task force as well. Erick (talk) 18:04, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Magiciandude: Please feel free to add anything that you find to be helpful to the Resources section on the bottom of the Task Force page. If the section grows too long, we can always split it off as its own page then. Thanks! giso6150 (talk) 17:52, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have added link to Brazilian music sources linking to the Latin music resources page if that's alright with you. I have a rather obvious question, but I just want to make sure. Do the Latin Grammy categories in the Brazilian field go under this task force as well? I've been tagging the task force on those articles. Erick (talk) 17:51, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Magicdude: Yes. That makes sense to me, Erick—thanks! giso6150 (talk) 19:16, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Languages[edit]

Should languages/language families be included in this task force, e.g. Xavante language? Prburley (talk) 18:04, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion about all seven of these task forces is to have as broad an interpretation as seems logical for each of them. Better to have too wide a net than too narrow. So, yes, why not include language articles (and their literatures, etc.)? If only marked with a plain {{WP Brazil}}, an article is more likely to be ignored, forgotten, etc. I have tagged similar articles to be included in the Geography task force; there is a lot of overlap when it comes to language and culture. giso6150 (talk) 19:12, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What do to with cover versions by Brazilian artists?[edit]

Hello, Giso6150, I was wondering how the project scope deals with cover versions by a Brazilian artist but with the original song being recorded by an artist of other nationality. For example, Darte un Beso was originally recorded by Prince Royce, an American singer, but it was later covered by Michel Teló as "Te Dar um Beijo". Another example is Fruta Fresca by Carlos Vives, which was later covered by Bro'Z as "Prometida", and "A Puro Dolor" by Son by Four was covered by KLB as "A dor desse amor". As someone who helped promoted two of these articles into GA, I do not mind tagging these articles for the Brazilian arts task force, but I wanted to ask first. Erick (talk) 15:21, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Erick, this is an interesting question and I think the answer often depends… but also it doesn’t make too big of a difference either way. In other words, there is no official line in the sand for inclusion or exclusion. If a song/album is recorded by a Brazilian artist or a version is released in Brazilian Portuguese, that seems like acceptable enough criteria from my point of view. I have tagged 1000s of articles for the task forces and I generally use my intuition. The tagging is just a small part, of course. What really matters is developing the content. Trust your intuition! giso6150 (talk) 17:13, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply Giso6150. That makes perfect sense, WikiProject Songs has a section on how cover versions are handled (WP:SONGCOVER), and I'd imagine that's how it would work here. So basically, as long as the notability of a cover version by a Brazilian artist can be demonstrated, it should suffice for this task force? Erick (talk) 17:19, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense to me, Erick! giso6150 (talk) 13:43, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FLC for Latin Grammy Hall of Fame[edit]

I nominated the article for Latin Grammy Hall of Fame for FLC. The Latin Grammy Hall of Fame contains many recordings done by Brazilian artists inducted into the hall of fame. I'd appreciate thee feedback! Erick (talk) 01:32, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for group projects?[edit]

  1. @Caesarologia:
  2. @DanielGSouza:
  3. @Dwarf Kirlston:
  4. @Gabriel Yuji:
  5. @Giso6150: I have been very busy in my job and have had little time for Wikipedia lately. One project that I think would be easy to organize would be to add infoboxes to the many stub in this task force, especially the bio stubs: Artists, Musicians, Authors, etc. The stub categories are all linked in the {{WikiProject Brazil task forces}} template. I'm happy to help with any project as time permits. giso6150 (talk) 22:45, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  6. @Magiciandude:
  7. @Victor Lopes:

Hi I'm new to this taskforce, but I was hoping we could talk here about specific articles or a group of articles that the taskforce could temporarily work on as a group. Perhaps even a "To do" Template or Subpage.--User:Dwarf Kirlston - talk 15:56, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool[edit]

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
