Brands?

Why doesn't this wikiproject look over brand names of alcohol? For example Bushmills or Crown Royal? ♣DeathRattle101 AKA LUX♣ (verbalizegenerosity) 11:02, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Good idea, but not really right for this Wikiproject. The reason is that the project was originally created as "Wikiproject Cocktails", and then it was expanded to include all mixed drinks. Covering the alcohol, too, would really add to the workload of the project. What is missing is a Wikiproject Spirits (not to be confused with the Halloween kind). We have a WP:BEER and WP:WINE, but we are missing Wikipedia:Wikiproject Distilled Spirits. In many ways, WP:MIX is a combination of each of those projects--a mix, if you will, of those individually large and rich project scopes. --Willscrlt (Talk) 00:14, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Community forum on standards

Based upon a discussion on the WP Food talk page, a community forum has been set up for the various Food and Drink projects develop a set of Manual of Style guidelines for use in articles under the auspices of the related Food and Drink WikiProjects and their task forces. These guidelines would be similar to the MoS guidelines for biographies or legal topics.

Once a consensus has been reached, this page is where we will post the standards.
Please discuss the development of the standards on this page.

Upon a general consensus has been reached for each set of standards, we will submit it to the appropriate discussion board for a ratification discussion.

Boy did I misunderstand what you meant. I thought you were indicating that it was a Good Article now being discussed for turning into a FA, not an already FA being discussed for demotion. Tom Collins

I just expanded the Tom Collins article. The best write up on the topic was this. However, Image:TomCollinsOrigins.PNG was a significant find for Wikipedia as it significantly tilts the orgins of the drink issues back to the U.S. and, along with the other research in the Wikipedia article, makes Wikipedia the best source on the Tom Collins cocktail. -- Suntag ☼ 08:22, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Advice needed: alcoholic beverages

We often add "(food)" for disambiguation purposes to various foods/dishes. Similarly "(water)" is added to mineral or bottled water brands. What is the practice with alcoholic beverages? I would like to create an article for oghi (an Armenian vodka distilled from various local fruits or berries), but this title is already taken. What do you suggest I call it? Oghi (drink)?
