Anyone interested in working together over the next month or two on W-League (Australia) articles? I've started brainstorming ideas at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/W-League. Feel free to add ideas or specific articles that should be addressed. Pinging a few editors in particular who might be interested @SuperJew:, @Matilda Maniac:, @MbahGondrong: - and anyone else looking to work productively to counteract the limitations of WP:FOOTY are welcome. Personally I won't have much time this next month, as it is the midst of the Jewish High Holy Days, so I'm less on the computer this month and I also need to prepare stuff for the upcoming uni year. When I am online I'll try and chip in. Regarding ideas, what do you think about creating the most minimal stubs for any player who's played a minute in the 3 FPL leagues the women do have? --SuperJew (talk) 20:11, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
Also, I think if we mass create pages for players in top leagues ("non-professional"), they will mostly stay. Out of 73 which I created at one point when I wasn't even aware they're "not-notable", 4 went on to senior football (thus "notable"), 3 were deleted and one was AFD'ed recently. --SuperJew (talk) 20:19, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
I was targeting those last year for a bit (3 in FPL)- sounds good, but kept noticing all the GNG coverage for players in other leagues and started focusing on those since FPL is so.... (loss for words). If there are any that you come across, feel free to add them to the Open Tasks page so others can help. I'm also curious what others think about establishing different notability guidelines for the Women's sport project, which currently has none that I'm aware of. There are a number of newish women-related projects that have been very actively addressing red link / gender gap issues, including WP Women and WP Women in Red (where I got the idea for Edit-a-Thon, but could just be an ongoing initiative that people work on when they are willing and able.) I may get into this in November. on a wiki-break now for a few weeks. And as we're heading towards a more integrated and Australia-wide Women's NPL, I will more likely be focusing on the tier below. Good luck ! Matilda Maniac (talk) 23:52, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

This seems like a good idea to me. Plenty of info out there which could be used to make the W-League really well-covered with a bit of time/effort. The idea at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/W-League#New articles seems like a very good one, both leading to more articles being created but ensuring that these won't just remain stubs indefinitely. I've joined and I also like the idea of a more suitable notability guideline – (WP:NWoSo?) Bring back Daz Sampson (talk) 11:00, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
Awesome. Maybe we should start a separate page to brainstorm and hash out ideas/language. Will get back to this later tonight / tomorrow. Hmlarson (talk) 16:30, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
This might also be something we could discuss. Hmlarson (talk) 16:32, 5 October 2016 (UTC) See also: WP:PROPOSAL Hmlarson (talk) 19:31, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes I am keen to work on W-League again. I have been inactive on Wikipedia recently but am keen to get back into it again. I've decided to setup a schedule with set hours per week for myself. I like the idea of a brainstorming page to hash out ideas/language. Having consistency across all club pages for example is ideal.Omegodriver (talk) 19:54, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

AFD tip

I recently discovered a quick way to keep up with AFDs for topics you're interested in and wanted to share in case it was of interest to anyone in the group. Create your own page in your userspace (or add to an existing one) and add the template(s) for article alerts for various projects. For this project, AFDs most commonly fall under:

WikiProject Women's sport

{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Women's sport/Article alerts}}

WikiProject Football

{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Article alerts}}

and sometimes (if not tagged by footy or women's sport)...

WikiProject Women

{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Women/Article alerts}}

Also a good reminder to always tag your articles with {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}.

Lovisa Mulunga

can someone help clean up the Lovisa Mulunga article? Joeykai (talk) 23:07, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

Done. -Koppapa (talk) 07:59, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

FA WSL Proposal to merge articles

It's been proposed by an editor to merge FA WSL with FA WSL 1 and FA WSL 2. Contributions to the the discussion are encouraged. Hmlarson (talk) 00:25, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, difficult situation, as much text is dubliceted. Maybe FA WSL should be trimmed a lot. Even more difficult is the Premier League article structure. -Koppapa (talk) 07:59, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
