How to use this list for effective collaboration[edit]

Agree. prashanthns (talk) 05:08, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if having a separate subpage just for the above-listed people (including me) to comment on proposals is a good idea. Edit count appears like an arbitrary measure to choose people for such endeavours. But, I take it that these people, with decent experience, should get involved in such proposals. Some process like the Peer Review is a good idea, but it shouldn't be limited to any group of editors, in my opinion. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 10:40, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I too is not quite sure about how to use the list. We already have discussion page on India related topics. The peer review idea is a good idea and needs to be explored further. The above list should be periodically ( say quarterly) updated just to know who are the most active Indian editors .Shyamsunder (talk) 04:42, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It could be made useful if writing interests and translation requests that can be accommodated are listed here - still, I would only see it as a subset of India WP page and at the most, as a limited clearing house for experienced Wikipedians. --Gurubrahma (talk) 13:02, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

SORRY TO BE ABSENT FROM THIS LIST!--BobClive (talk) 14:25, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

I am an Indian, interested in editing, maintaining and creating articles about India. I have one question, how do you know the number of edits a person makes? I went to my contribs, but even after 3 years of being here, I can' make head or tail out of it. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 12:01, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Search for 'edit and action count' in your contributions page.--GDibyendu (talk) 12:04, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. I get this Edits (including deleted edits): 1554, Edits: 1469, Deleted edits: 85.
Thanks a lot.
BTW: What does deleted edits mean? Does it mean, pages made by me that got deleted, or pages deleted by me?
--Rsrikanth05 (talk) 14:06, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think it means your edits which were undid or reverted by others.--GDibyendu (talk) 14:14, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot. Does the table in question include deleted edts? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 15:32, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Rsrikatnth05, the deleted edits refer to your edits that were deleted from Wikipedia (by an admin). So speedy deletion tagging would count as deleted edits. If you contributed to a page which got deleted later, that will also count towards deleted edits. --Joshua Issac (talk) 06:40, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Truncated to 5000 edits[edit]

There have been comments/suggestions that the list is very long and need to be cut short, so i have truncated the list to only users above 5000 edits and moved the rest to this list. Feel free to move people from " <5000 list" to main list as needed. -- Tinu Cherian - 06:38, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have any problems with the list. But I feel that mentioning that the top 50 contributors would be enough. It is extremely difficult to update this list manually on a regular basis. As far as WP:EDITS is concerned, it is updated by a bot, I guess.-RaviMy Tea Kadai 17:34, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My opinion is that it should only include those with 6,000 edits and above, as in the main list. Joyson Noel Holla at me! 18:17, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Retired, Inactive since 1 December 2011"[edit]

Today is 2 Dec 2011, And Joyson Noel updates Ravichandar84 as "Retired, Inactive since 1 December 2011" . You are kidding right ? -- Tinu Cherian - 17:36, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies to Ravichandar! The day before yesterday, he actually posted the "Semi-retired" template on his user page, before blanking it. As such, i unwisely mistook this for him leaving Wikipedia. I have now changed his status to "Semi-retired". Joyson Noel Holla at me! 18:09, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe this edit is the reason for the confusion. Knowing Ravi, he will never retire from Wikipedia . What say, Ravi ? :) -- Tinu Cherian - 02:41, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, maybe! But I had long desired to get an article to the main page and work is still pending, which is why, I took a decision to stay back. I am extremely sorry, Noel, for the confusion.-RaviMy Tea Kadai 02:56, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
@ Tinu: Exactly!
@ Ravi: It's all right! I should have known better than to make assumptions. Good luck on your final Wikipedia endeavor! Joyson Noel Holla at me! 08:09, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updating the page[edit]

This page seems to bear a significance. While I see that this project page has been updated practically a year ago, it seems that not many people are interested in it. I just added my name to the list and also reorganised the list to some extent. Can this page not be bot maintained? There should also be an option of adding new users to the list (if/as applicable). DiptanshuTalk 15:35, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Updated this in semi-automated way. Methodology has been mentioned in main page itself. Suggestions welcome. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 08:40, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Counts updated[edit]
