Comments[edit]

No one is using this project so I am currently putting some of the main Leeds pages under it (with the intention to do all soon). I did not know about it myself until I thought of looking after finding there was a Bradford one. If you would like to help feel free, I am only the second person to join. Mtaylor848 (talk) 17:58, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This project is largely inactive, particularly while the Leeds page is still under debate. I am adding pages to it in the mean time. Mtaylor848 (talk) 12:14, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge inactive WikiProject as a taskforce of WP:UK[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. -- tariqabjotu 02:34, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject LeedsWikipedia:WikiProject United Kingdom/Leeds – this project is tagged as inactive since 2011, so it should be merged as a task force into a larger, active, wikiproject, either the NB/WPP UK, or WP:UKGEO, WPUK seems to make more sense, since many Leeds articles are not strictly geography. The banners {{WPUK}} or {{WPUKgeo}} would add a switch to activate Leeds. --Relisted. -- tariqabjotu 07:04, 4 September 2013 (UTC) 76.65.128.222 (talk) 08:14, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:

Examples of merged wikiproject banners abound, such as for {{WPAUSTRALIA}}, {{WPUSA}}, {{WPCANADA}} which feature taskforces, workgroups and subprojects on the same banner, with city projects listed as subelements of the national project. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 08:21, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't it be better to merge with Wikipedia:WikiProject Yorkshire? Another option would be to merge this wikiproject with Wikipedia:WikiProject Bradford but that is also inactive. Eopsid (talk) 10:12, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'll post that suggestion to WPBRADFORD. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 11:50, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • If a WikiProject goes inactive, the best merge is to the smallest active enclosing WikiProject - and WP:YORKS is very much active. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:21, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would favour a merge into Wikiproject Yorkshire; that seems like the neatest approach, and I don't doubt a few people on that project will happily take Leeds articles under their wing if they haven't already. If WikiProject Bradford is also inactive, maybe that too could merge into WP:YORKS... bobrayner (talk) 10:50, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to WikiProject Yorkshire. It would seem very odd for it not to be there - that is where I would expect to find it. If things change, and WikiProject Yorkshire becomes unmanageable, then a spin-off into another division - say west Yorkshire - might be appropriate but that can be addressed if the time comes. --AJHingston (talk) 14:05, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment rather pointless to actually merge into Wikiproject Yorkshire as it already covers all of the articles covered by this project. Actually as I maintain Wikiproject Yorkshire to have sub-project would make it far less manageable. Leave it as it is without sub-projects. Keith D (talk)
    • That would be the reason to merge it into WP:YORKSHIRE, because it already covers all of the articles. Otherwise, we'd merge it to WP:UK (or WP:ENGLAND) as a task force. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 05:49, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • As I said I maintain WP:YORKS and would not wish to have task forces to make maintenance more difficult. Keith D (talk) 10:49, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
        • How does this make maintenance more difficult? Nothing changes to the WPYORKSHIRE maintenance. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 06:43, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject X is live![edit]

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Project-independent quality assessments[edit]

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present.
