At present this task force covers the early military history of Islam and the various Muslim states, up to c. 1000 A.H. (c. 1600 AD). But there are two other task forces which cover the last part of this period comprising Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Ottoman military history task force and Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Indian military history task force. I propose reducing the interval and put 907 A.H. (1500AD). At this time Safavid dynasty was established and Muslim world divided to three main parts, Ottoman empire, Mongol empire and Safavid empire. On the other hand it coincide with the fall of Muslims in Andalusia(1492) and invasion of Portugal to Muslim lands in the south east Asia(1511) . If I'm not mistaken, the idea of having it run to 1600 (other than producing a nice round number) was to cover the entirety of the Ottoman conquest of North Africa. But the later aspects of that are admittedly pretty obscure topics; so, if the participants of this task force want to shrink the scope a bit, I have no objections. True, but not one which covers, say, Hasfid military history during that last century. But, as I said, those are pretty obscure topics anyways. Kirill 18:59, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
That was my also suggestion, but a nice round date was preferred. However, when founding this task force, the involved Muslims opted for an extension to the present day because Islam's stance on war made Muslims special. Wandalstouring (talk) 15:35, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
