So now that Ross has declared his intention to remain in Parliament as an independent what should we do with this article? A by-election before the end of term is still a possibility especially under the new "Waka-jumping" rules. Should it be deleted or should we save it as in the draft space? Kiwichris (talk) 06:44, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think moving it to a draft is appropriate. The WPNZ Politics taskforce routinely creates articles on people likely to be elected in a draft area (Wikipedia:WikiProject New Zealand/politics/New MPs), so a similar area would be the appropriate place to put this.-gadfium 07:07, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure. All this developed while I was off-grid. Was the by-election anticipated by the media and discussed in depth? If so, it might be a notable entity even if it may not proceed. Similarly, we should have an article about the 1941 general election. Schwede66 16:12, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The by-election was discussed in many media articles, but as it hasn't ended up eventuating it seems like a non-event per WP:CRYSTAL. I can see value in retaining it as a draft however since National have said they are "looking at all options" which means Ross could yet be expelled for waka-jumping. Kiwichris (talk) 23:33, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If the by-election doesn't happen in this term, then I see no need for an article on it, but the events which led to the expectation of a by-election can be included in the electorate article, and this title can continue to exist as a redirect to the electorate article.-gadfium 00:40, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would be considering taking this to AfD, that is the situation we are in since he decided to remain in Parliament as a Independent MP. Sheldybett (talk) 07:11, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My preference would be to move it to draft, and back to article space if/when a by-election is declared. Ajf773 (talk) 19:06, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I concur that moving to WPNZ politics draft space is the appropriate action and reflects consensus. Schwede66 01:34, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mentally disordered[edit]

Given the latest developments, does anyone here have good information about how compulsory treatment for mental disorder[1] would apply here? Onetwothreeip (talk) 06:26, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
