For your reference, there has been an AfD opened on this article, and the nominator hasn't done his homework on a major notable shopping centre. Thewinchester (talk)

You'll be pleased to know that the AfD for this center has now gone keep, particularly after work which has increased the article 15 fold. Thewinchester (talk) 03:15, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was very happy to see what the article became. User:Hit bull, win steak was a bit off with this nomination, especially when you look at some of his other work - the most notable accomplishment is buried.Garrie 04:43, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ongoing discussion[edit]

There is an unresolved discussion on the encyclopedic nature of the list of individual stores and opening dates in the article Dartmouth Crossing‎. Some other opinions on the talk page there might help resolve it.DGG (talk) 02:17, 19 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Handy resources[edit]

While improving the Karrinyup Shopping Centre article (yes, it's still being worked on), we've come across this little gem which may be handy for those improving Aussie centres in existance prior to 1988:

Spike Boydell (July 1998). "An analysis of the investment appraisal of enclosed regional shopping centres : An Australian perspective" (PDF): pp.303. Retrieved 2007-07-18. {{cite journal}}: |pages= has extra text (help); Cite journal requires |journal= (help)

This has some information on centres, including size, but most importantly the year of construction and all subsequent major renovations or upgrades. This will greatly assist those trying to track down additional information on centres, or more importantly cross-reference this set of guidebooks: [Shopping Centre Directory http://propertycouncil.gravitymax.com.au/nat/page.asp?e_page=262036&category=245761]

The WA editions of these guides are in our State Library, so your state library may have your local ones as well. The dates from that PhD thesis will help you pick out the correct year book to hunt down information. Enjoy, Thewinchester (talk) 15:47, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Footnotes and references in Infobox shopping mall[edit]

In an idea I've stolen from the Airport Infobox, I have now added a new field titled footnotes to this template last tonight. It is an optional area, and will only display when content has been entered into the field. Instead of placing refs all the way thru the infobox, this information can be consolidated into the footnotes field for a cleaner display. A good example of it in the field can be found in this article (Karrinyup Shopping Centre). Also, I have significantly updated the documentation page to give a better explanation of each field and the relevant formats that should be used in the template as good examples and guidance. Expert review: Interplaza Shoptown[edit]

As part of the Notability wikiproject, I am trying to sort out whether Interplaza Shoptown is notable enough for an own article. I would appreciate an expert opinion. For details, see the article's talk page. If you can spare some time, please add your comments there. Thanks! --B. Wolterding 12:36, 31 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]

New Zealand shopping centres blanket AFDS[edit]

Hello! I would want to alert you guys that on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 August 2, a couple of users have pretty much proposed a blanket deletion for shopping centres in New Zealand.--JForget 02:51, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting us know. Next time, though, could you provide a direct link to the AFD? SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:52, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All of these debates have now been tagged and transcluded to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Malls. I would strongly suggest that all relevant project experts take a look over these and make appropriate contributions to the debates. Thewinchester (talk) 12:26, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, i've done my piece to save what's worth saving and cleaned up a bucketload of others. If someone else could step in, it would be appreciated. Thewinchester (talk) 14:34, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the direct links for those AFDs.

I've also noticed CSD G12 tags in some of the articles proposed for deletion meaning they are copyright infringement. JForget 14:43, 3 August 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Orland Park Place[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Orland Park Place, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Nomenclature[edit]

The ICSC definitions of "regional" "super-regional" etc. seem in the latest version to apply to the U.S. only, while in the 1999 version there I don't see such a restriction. Please see Talk:Shopping mall for a discussion of what terminology to use for different sizes of shopping centers in other countries. Thanks. Edison 03:13, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
