Performance table

Hi guys, during a recent GAN by TRM, it was brought up about citing the performance table. Anyone know where this info comes from? I'd like to not have OR hanging about. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 18:24, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

I think it's not really OR, more a composite. Referencing is therefore a problem since it would require perhaps hundreds of references. Not sure what the solution is. Nigej (talk) 14:30, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

BBC coverage of 2020 World Snooker Championship

Not sure if this is an appropriate forum to bring this up, but I'm sure someone will speedily delete it if I've overstepped the mark...
As a keen snooker fan and member of Wikiproject Snooker, I'm incredibly disappointed that the World Snooker Championship will not be taking place later this month. I imagine this has left a considerable hole in the BBC's schedule as they would normally be showing hours of coverage throughout the last two weeks of April and culminating in the two-day final over May Day weekend. I have emailed the BBC to ask about their plans to fill the gap and I've requested that they show some historical matches to keep the snooker fans entertained. I've suggested they could broadcast the 1985 World Snooker Championship final between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor (one of the most exciting and memorable matches ever) in its entirety over the two days that would normally be reserved for this year's final (Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th May). I did ask very politely and I even said "PLEASE!!" If you agree with me, please email your requests to YourQuestions@bbc.co.uk

I'm not entirely sure this does meet WP:NOTFORUM, but I would be interested in them releasing the full championships online from previous years. They are currently sitting on footage from years gone by, and whilst showing a final in full from years ago might not be practical on BBC One, the iPlauer could easily support the whole events coverage. It's also the 35th anniversary of the event, which would help Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:42, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
If they did show it, this could be mentioned in both the 1985 final article ("On the 35th anniversary of the match...") and the 2020 WSC article ("As the championship did not take place as planned...") Now wouldn't that be good :) Rodney Baggins (talk) 15:40, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Snooker is a non-contact sport. I don't know why they didn't just play it without the audience. Surely the chance of infection would be lower in an empty arena than it would be at the COVID-19 press conferences the Government holds everyday telling us to stay at home...if the Government expects me to stay cooped up in my house for the next 3 months then the TV schedule is going to have to improve dramatically. (This is beyond what a Wiki talk page is for, but...) I'm not sure that's really practical. People are expected to stay 6ft apart - basically the width of a table. Is there that much space away from the table for the inactive player to be seated a safe distance away, and what about the referee's presence? If he had to stay that far back a few unscrupulous players might exploit the opportunity. Not to mention the camera crew.--MartinUK (talk) 09:39, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
I'll try to fill in some of the citations needed at 1985 World Snooker Championship final. Is [this video] of the last part of the final frame, published by World Snooker Tour, an appropriate source for the missing commentary quotation citations? Or should they be removed (maybe falling foul of WP:NOR)? BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 11:36, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
I found out something I didn't know today. Check out the link in item one at The Joy of Six: Great Crucible moments (The Guardian) - looks like a glaring omission from the Alex Higgins article. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 11:55, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

Discord

Hey all, I hope everyone is safe and healthy. My name is HickoryOughtShirt?4 and I'm a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. I was wondering if there was any interest in starting a WikiProject Sports channel on Discord? There's quite a few of us who are interested in sports, and I think it would be a good idea to help the WikiProject recruit more members. You guys can join us through here.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:00, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

I should note both myself, BennyOnTheLoose, and MWright96 are on the discord. I would be very much up for a sports channel. I often use discord to bounce ideas around for snooker/sports articles. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 07:31, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
Yes I like the idea of a sports channel on discord. MWright96 (talk) 07:35, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
Do we have a central discussion for this? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 07:31, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Season dates in performance table

Hi guys,

I've made a quick regex on WP:AWB to change the links (and potentially the text) of our links to our season articles. Currently it does like this edit. On our season tables, we currently link to 2009/
10
. Should we change this to 2009–
10
? If so, I'll get to changing this to the correct formatting. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:29, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
