Can I suggest a different mechanism for picking the collaboration? Quite honestly, with voting I could easily nominate 20 or more articles, all of which I'd happily work on, and I'd vote for more or less anything that's nominated. I don't really get the descriptions of why articles should be picked - surely 'it's not up to the standards we expect' is the only reason we need. I think it might work better if people simply list 5 or even 10 articles they'd most like to work on. Then, the article most listed gets worked on first, and subsequent articles get worked on next. That way, voting need not take up so much time, or be done every week. This method of selection could be done every few weeks, generating a list of say 5 articles to be worked on each time. Sounds fine to me. I had just followed what other collaborations had done in terms of nomination processes. Perhaps some modifications would be for each person to select 5 articles they wish to collaborate on, if one of their selections is already listed, they place a support "note" (just to keep the page from being cluttered with article "nominations". If it isn't nominated yet, they would follow the current procedure. At the end of a week, the five articles with the most nominations, would be selected as those that will be worked on over the next five weeks, starting with the top vote getter, then the next highest, and so forth. Nothing's happened for a few days; can I suggest that to start us off, Volcanopele as the founder of the collaboration simply picks the article he'd like to work on? I'm personally happy to work on any topic, and if everyone else is, then we could temporarily avoid questions of how to pick the topic and just get going. Might I suggest starting with the articles that are almost there, and working our way to those that need more help? We have at least 2 articles that are either FAC or near to it, Venus and Mars. Why not start by getting those articles whipped up to shape, and then go for something that might be a bit more complex, like Titan? Tuvas 20:08, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A very long week...[edit]

I note that we've had the same collaboration "of the week" since 13 June 2006. That's one hell a long week. Clearly something needs to be done to reactivate this collaboration, so I am suggesting that it be expanded to cover all spaceflight-related topics instead of just astronomical objects. I would be interested in finding articles related to spaceflight and space exploration that would be good candidates for a space-wide collaboration. Can someone from one of the other space-related areas, e.g. astronomy, find an article in their area of interest that has a tie-in with spaceflight?
