Changed project Picture

05:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I changed the wikiproject picture. the old picture didn't really stick out because while it looks good big, the picture is far too detailed for a picture being viewed at only 80 px. In other news, a big event article is under construction. please see talk page for more details. –Oldag07 (talk · contribs)

List of Aggie terms FA nomination

01:58, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Bad news, the List of Texas Aggie terms failed FL nomination. Negatives, we did not make it, positives, this article greatly improved. I need a huge break from wikipedia, as shown on my profile, but maybe a GA push would be more appropriate. I think the article could pass now honestly, if someone wants to do that. I might push few months from now. Thank you much for the help! –Oldag07 (talk · contribs)

Happy New Year

19:27, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
2007 has been a monster year for Texas A&M, and it's wikipedia pages. A&M:

  • Dr Robert Gates became secretary of defense, but we will have a new one soon.
  • The Texas A&M Men's Basketball Team made the sweet 16, i want to say for the first time ever.
  • We beat t.u. again in football
  • New Coaches, Mark Turgeon for Basketball, and Mike Sherman for football.
  • Began construction of several buildings in including new physics buildings, and a 100 million dollar life sciences building
  • Oldag07 graduated
  • A&M number one in the Washington Monthly Rankings
  • Can you think of any more?, Add them . ..

For Aggie Wikipedia pages:

We got so much done this year, 2008 is going to be even more amazing. Happy New year. Thanks and Gig Em! –Oldag07 (talk · contribs)

Aggie Bonfire

18:32, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
BQ and I are starting an FA push to get the Aggie Bonfire to FA status by November. He has already begun making suggestions for improvement on the talk page. Please come by the talk page, provide suggestions, and sign up for sections to work on. I know that many of our members began attending A&M after the official Bonfire tradition subsided and may have never seen Bonfire burn. I especially encourage you, then, to participate in this article and learn more about this tradition, and the Aggie spirit it represented, as it was incredibly important to the school and students for almost a century. –karanacs (talk · contribs)

Association of Former Students URGENT An employee of the Association of Former Students has made big edits to the Association of Former Students page. This person has put a whole lot of work onto the page, and I don't want to alienate him. however, the edits i feel are not of a [[WP:NPOV|neutral point of view, and the does not conform to the wikipedia manual of style. I have created a draft email to send to this person and posted it on our discussion page. I will send this off on Sunday. id much rather aggies deal with this person rather than some person unrelated to Texas A&M half way across the world delete all his stuff. this person did provide their address on BlueAg's talk page. Official Aggie Maroon has changed

20 June 2008
Pantone now has a custom color called Aggie Maroon, and it's no longer Pantone 202, or #8C2633 or Pantone 505, or #6C1420. See color swatches at http://brandguide.tamu.edu/print/aggieMaroon.html. The hex code is #500000.Mdmcginn (talk) 18:00, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

official aggie maroon is Pantone 202, or #8C2633 according this source. http://www.tamu.edu/tamunews/faq.html i think we can finally settle the whole thing.

Maroon color

03:37, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
I was wrong about the color. The hex code for Pantone 505, the official Aggie maroon, is #6C1420. Though it looks more violet than maroon, it is was certainly the shade used (http://www.tamu.edu/trademarks/documents/graphicsmanual.pdf) here (broken link). –BlueAg09 (talk · contribs)

Question about Aggieland

05:26, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Currently, Aggieland is being redirected to College Station, Texas. What exactly is being referred to when using the word "Aggieland"? The campus or the city? If it is the campus, Aggieland should be redirected to the campus article –BlueAg09 (talk · contribs)

  • Doing a google search, there seems to be a lot of organizations not affiliated with the university with the name Aggieland. For example: Aggieland outfitters, aggieland cycling. I think college station is an approprate redirect. Oldag07 17:59, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

87 unranked articles

13:32, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the bot messed up and unranked 87 of our articles including our 2 fa articles and our ga articles. I am working on fixing it, and i believe i corrected it. I did too much tinkering with the template, and that is probably what went wrong. I reverted and I believe it will take a few hours before wikipedia corrects it to the point to where i can manually run the bot again. –Oldag07 (talk · contribs)

Bot error

03:43, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
The bot seems to have improperly tagged Robert Gates as FA-class here, even though it is only B-class –Wordbuilder (talk · contribs)

It wasn't the bots fault. whoever put that placed the template on that site accidently labeled it an FA with both the State of Texas WikiProject and ours. I fixed it yesterday, but the bot hasn't fixed the stat page yet.Oldag07 00:51, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Texas A&M University Category

22:30, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Recent changes button is changed to be more useful. now it loooks up all the articles in the Texas A&M University Category: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Texas_A%26M_University. I have added all of the articles from that category onto our wikiproject. However, it would be better to change that link above so it could look up all the subcategories of Wikiproject Texas A&M. If someone understands parser functions, it would be nice if they could change our WikiProject Template so this can happen. . .

We still have more available articles to hit up. . haven't hit up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Texas_A%26M_University_alumni, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Texas_A%26M_University_faculty, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Texas_A%26M_Aggies. The categories on all of our pages are a huge mess. It will take a long time to fix them, but if anybody wants to, be my guest. I have also suggested several merges. March to the Brazos to traditions and the Corps pages and the Eller O&M Building to the campus pages. We might not even need to add all new articles onto the articles page seen on the right. Corps articles (pun intended)

19:29, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
I had intended to make the Corps of Cadets article an FA...eventually, but recent changes to my job situation may preclude that (I'm now back in flying training!!!). I will do my best to help out on other articles, but I think my preferences on FA would be Bonfire (it's an oddball in the wikiworld and probably would hold interest), the Corps of Cadets (same animal, but maybe a little less so), and the Traditions of A&M. I'd recommend getting one of these to FA status and get the rest to GA. –BQZip01 (talk · contribs)

new core articles

05:52, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
I created chimera test articles from different articles for new pages that I have suggested should we choose to go for the featured topic award. (see things to do list)

remember we just have to get them to GA status. i don't think these articles are FA type articles anyways

Concur, but it may be difficult to do academics in a way that shows the uniqueness of the University. Student Life (in conjunction with one of the other topics might work better. BQZip01 talk 19:29, 20 June 2007 (UTC) Oldag07 (talk · contribs)[reply]

Organizing

15:14, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
This page has a lot of work from being a mature wikiproject. but much progress has been made. if everybody would 5 articles anytime they feel the need to, then we should eventually get everything done. anything that hasn't been ranked a GA is b or below. stubs are articles that are basically blurbs, need to be written. start articles are articles that need major expansion and clean up. b is a level that can approach ga, but not rated then. as for importance, I say only the main article and the major headings (atletics, campus, history, traditions etc) are top importance. high importance articles are branch campuses, teams, very important people in A&M history (rudder, ross, gates pretty much, mid importance, major traditions, important events, etc, low, most former students, minor traditions, catch all for everything else. when we are done sorting the articles on the right, we need to go though or catagories, and get the rest of the people not sorted. this is a lot of work, but once this is a mature wikiproject, coordinating work on a&m projects will be much easier. blueag09's suggestion to change the aggie colors was an example of this, once he changed the color, I was quickly able to change all a&m related templates to that same color. best of luck everyone. see ya. BTW, be sure to welcome Karanacs back –Oldag07 (talk · contribs)

Changed color
