I do own the DVDs

I do own the DVDs and watched a lot of commentaries, but I really amn't that great at article building. I amn't exactly renowned for commitment abilities, but I'll add what I can.--Andy mci 19:50, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Just so others know, it's currently exam season, so I'll be a little busy for the next couple weeks. However, I'll try and get a few episode pages done in my spare time. -- Scorpion 17:10, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Another FA?

With Homer's Enemy's FA candidateship coming to an end soon, I was wondering if we should consider trying to get another FA. Upon completion, we would have 23 GAs, 2 FAs and an FL. It certainly wouldn't hurt to have another FA, but I think for the moment our focus should be on getting the rest of the articles to GA status. If we do decide to work for another FA, it could be You Only Move Twice or The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show, both of which have big production sections and are well-known episodes. -- Scorpion 17:00, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

It might be a good idea, but as you said we should get every reaminging page to GA status first, and then see where we are from there. Gran2 17:05, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I think You Only Move Twice is the better of the two. If we could only beef up the cultural references and reception sections, it would be FA worthy IMO, but wait at least for GA. --Maitch 19:54, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
It shouldn't be too hard to add to the cultural references section, all we have to do is add more specific info on the various Bond references. The reception section will be trickier because we can only add as much as we can find, but I should be able to find some stuff. Either way, I'll start working on it and getting it in form for a possible FA run. I'll put it up for peer review. -- Scorpion 16:52, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

7 Left

There are only 7 pages left to do. The Season 18 page is getting close and most of the remaining episode pages just need a production section and a clean up of the synopsis. I think it is safe to assume that ANdymci is MIA, but we'll give him a week. I have been bogged down with exams as of late, but I'm free now and I have about 2 weeks of free time before I have to start the summer job, so I'll do what I can to get the pages done.

Either way, I was thinking we should both claim the final pages that we want that are left. I'll take a Milhouse Divided (Not a favourite, but somebody needs to do it) -- Scorpion 15:31, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah sure, I've been really tired lately (most likely a mild Spring bug) but I'm okay now. I might do the production section for I Marge We Trust later, because that's all that needs to be done. But lets claim. Gran2 15:36, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Welcome.. myself!

Heya - i've been doing alot of copyediting of Simpson's topics recently, especially doing a large Hurricane Neddy after failing it for GA. Sadly as my expectation of the standard is quite high, I've found that quite a few 'GA' articles are not up-to-scratch, especially in the language section. Over the next few weeks I plan to go through each current Season 8 GA and copyedit, bringing each up to scratch and the language expected of a Featured Article. JameiLei 16:40, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I found a fan generated Top 50 from a "reliable source"

Since we can't use the NHC Top 100 due to it not being from a "reliable source", I have been looking for a fab based list from a more reputable site, and I found that TV.com [1] has one. Take it for what its worth (because it's Number 2 hasn't even aired yet), but if you disregard the Top 2, it's a pretty decent list with no major ommissions or stunning additions. So what do you guys think, is the list usable? -- Scorpion0422 21:32, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

I just found a major problem with the list: After the rating, it lists by season. So, if there is a tie in score, episodes are listed in descending order by season. I guess the list isn't as usable as I hoped. Still, it could be sourced for some, saying "It received a score of ____ on TV.com and is one of the highest rated Simpsons episodes." without mentioning a specific rank. -- Scorpion0422 21:48, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Good find, I'll try an implement it in some places. Gran2 05:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Last one

Right there's one left, I'm not going to get around to doing it, so you can if you'd like. Gran2 19:35, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Also, is that it for the production sections of My Sister, My Sitter and Mountain of Madness? Those commentaries must be terrible! Gran2 19:46, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
You can't do it? Great, I just packed up my Season 8 DVDs too. I'll either do it later tonight or tomorrow. The commentaries aren't terrible - they just don't contain a lot of useable material. In fact, the one for Mountain of Madness is one of the best for Season 8 because they answer a lot of general questions about the show - it's nowhere near as good as the one for Homer's Enemy though. -- Scorpion0422 19:51, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Actually I've had a change of heart, it'll be done within two hours. Gran2 19:54, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Right, Grade School Confidential is now completed, except for the synopsis which needs to be looked through (I don't have time now), and then it can be nominated. After that we'll just have to wait for reviewers to come in and we'll be finished. Gran2 21:28, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Should we go ahead with trying to get You Only Move Twice to FA status, or submit it for FTC the moment Season 8 and the GACs are promoted? -- Scorpion0422 22:59, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I'd say we submit for FTC when they all pass, and see what people at the nomination say. Gran2 05:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Next season?

This is a little premature, because I intend on taking a break after we get season 8 finished, but I felt like working on a couple pages, and I was wondering if I should work on them from the same season, in case we decide to do another one. I was thinking season 7 would be a good one or season 5, mainly because Cape Feare is an FA. Season 6 is right out in my opinion because I think that getting Another Simpsons Clip Show would be very hard considering that it has little plot and a bad commentary. So what do others think? 5? 7? Or something completely different? -- Scorpion0422 04:03, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Well 6 is my second favourite season, but yeah, doing the clip show would be very hard. So I don't know.. both 6 and 7 have Who Shot Mr Burns eps, which will be hard, and we'll have to do well, as we'll need all of the other stuff as well. Media attention, speculation, etc. and of course the special version of America's Most Wanted. Then it has got some great episodes all the same. Fives in the same sort of boat. I say we select 10 episodes or so, noy necessaryily in the same season, but ten episodes that really should be improved to GA. Like for example, Deep Space Homer, 22 Short Films, and some more from the early seasons, like Life on the Fast Lane. If we do do a season however, I'd go for 7. Gran2 06:34, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Who Shot Mr. Burns would be very hard, but its the kind of page that could become an FA. I think it makes sense to decide early then we can do our best to work on some articles early. I hope Maitch has season 7, because it would be made considerably easier to have a third person in there helping. -- Scorpion0422 15:21, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
To make it easier I can tell you that I got season 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7. I personally think we should do season 1. It is easier because there are fewer episodes and I'm fairly sure I can get Some Enchanted Evening (The Simpsons episode) up to FA standards. I started working on it a while back (User:Maitch/draft3), but kept getting sidetracked. --Maitch 15:39, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, 13 (SROAOF done already) episodes is less of a daunting task. Gran2 15:48, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I always thought that season 1 would be hard due to a lack of sources, but I don't think it would matter anymore. Let's do season 1. 13 episodes (with 1 finished), that's four a piece (dibs on Bart the General), plus the season 1 page. And on a sidenote, I've been looking over Who Shot Mr. Burns and I really think that you could get a long, informative page out of it, but as much as I hate to say it, I think it would be easier if the two pages were merged. That way you wouldn't have to worry about repeating facts or anything. -- Scorpion0422 16:04, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Probably a good idea. I'll take Life on the Fast Lane. Gran2 16:06, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Finished

Well near enough, only My Sister, My Sitter is left. Which failed its GAC. As the isn't really any way of expanding it, we could just nominate for FTC now, as it doesn't seem very likely that MSMS will get to GA in the near future. And as it follows the same format as the other articles, it shouldn't be to much of a problem. Thoughts? Gran2 10:28, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, we could give it a go. It might be imposible to get MSMS up to GA. --Maitch 15:09, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
It all depends on who reviews it. I really do think that it needs to be promoted before we can try. Although, the FT reviewers may be so impressed that the ignore it (which is unlikely). It might be worth a shot. -- Scorpion0422 01:09, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
I think we should go for FTC now. From observing othet FTCs, they go on for a long time. If it is deemed necessary, we could get MSYS to GA in that time. Gran2 07:12, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

It has been nominated here. I really hope that My Sister, My Sitter doesn't count that much. -- Scorpion0422 23:36, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, My Sister, My Sitter does seem to be our Achilles' heel, and at first I had hoped that it might be over-looked due to its lack of content, but I doubt that will happen now. So, does anyone have an idea on how to expand the page? I will give the commentary another listen tomorrow, but I have done a lot of google searches and have found nothing usable from any reliable sources. Perhaps something could be dug up from a book? -- Scorpion0422 02:32, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I have expanded it a bit. --Maitch 10:14, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Seasons?

With season 8 looking like it will pass, I was wondering if perhaps we should also work on getting the seasons to FL status and getting The Simpsons seasons to be a FT. It would be better for me because I'm currently working on an Asparagus farm, which involves 10-12 hour days so I really don't have the time to work on episode pages, but with seasons, one could work on the page in a sandbox and occasionally add to it.

There are two main (but fixable) problems with the seasons: 1. There is no main article 2. Season 19 would be impossible to get promoted, at least not until next year.

However, I think we could start a category for The Simpsons seasons and that could be used as the main page (its used for the Star Wars movies FT) and we would probably be able to argue that it would be impossible to get season 19 to FL status because it would automatically fail the stability requirement and thus would be excuseable.

I would have no problem with doing season 1 and I would do my best to help (perhaps I could do the season 1 page, but I don't own the book that Maitch used for 18), but perhaps we could work on both concurrently... -- Scorpion0422 01:05, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

To me, the logical thing to use as the main topic page would be List of The Simpsons episodes. But I don't know. Seems like a good idea. Gran2 05:53, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Mission Accomplished!

Good job everyobe, on to season 1 now. Season 1 will likely take longer despite having half the episodes because I won't be very active, but oh well. -- Scorpion0422 14:28, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Boo ya! Anyway, LOTFL has been on GAC for over a fortnight now. When it passes, I'll get started on another page. That said, I'll be gone for a week as well from Thursday, but there you go. Gran2 14:36, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
