I brought this up at the portal, but seeing that this page is used more, I thought I'd bring it up here. Is anyone interested in creating a Tropical Cyclone Collaboration of the Week, based other projects? Some TC articles are in dire need of help, and should really be a lot better. The time limit can be changed, but this philosophy has been put in to practice before. Hurricane Floyd, for example, unofficially had that done, though over a longer period of time, between Jdorje and I. Compare before we started it to how it is now, a featured article. There are tons of articles that have untouched potential, so if anyone wants to work as a group, talk about it here. Hurricanehink 03:16, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like the idea, but a week might be too short. A fortnight, perhaps? Titoxd(?!? - help us) 03:19, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, that works. A fortnight is 2 weeks, right? Tropical Cyclone Collaboration of the Fortnight, I like it. Yea, when I first wrote this, I thought a week would be too small, but 2 weeks would be perfect. Anyone interested, feel free to sign below. Hurricanehink 14:26, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This doesn't really need a vote. Just create the collaboration and start on it. Hink's already been going through one storm every couple weeks so it's a small step just to turn that into a collaboration. — jdorje (talk) 01:53, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that list is just for those who are interested. Hurricanehink 02:19, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Should we move this to the Collaboration page, seeing as there is a link on the main page (which was beautifully redone by Titoxd)? Hurricanehink 04:09, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Canditates for TCCF[edit]

  • Hurricane Mitch- This storm is almost a household name, yet the article has needs a lot of work, especially on particulars in the impact section. In two weeks, this could be made FA. Hurricanehink 14:26, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I am currently working on this as my personal TCCF. If anyone wants to join, feel free to. Hurricanehink 04:09, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Some of these articles need a lot of help. I'll be putting my weight behind Gilbert and Camille especially until they are up to snuff. Runningonbrains 07:26, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mitch[edit]

Seeing as Mitch is the current article, the only thing that needs to be done is the aftermath section. You know, international aid, rebuilding, etc. Feel free to start adding! Hurricanehink 01:22, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Archives[edit]

Are we going to keep a list of past articles in the Collaboration? Plus, it would be nice if we had a "before and after" thing. Icelandic Hurricane #12 00:25, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, we are, and the link is Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones/Collaboration archive. I'll try to put diffs there. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 00:27, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We could also have it list the dates that it was being collaborated. Icelandic Hurricane #12 12:27, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Continuation[edit]

Seeing this hasn't been getting very far since Cyclone Tracy's nomination, I'll select the next one. I've organized the nominees from most to least important or needed most, with Camille at the top of the list. I don't know how much I can do, but I'll try my best. Icelandic Hurricane #12 23:39, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Call it quits?[edit]

No one has done anything here for a long time, with the possible exception of Icelandic Hurricane. Should we just remove the collaboration? Most people do their own thing, anyway. --Hurricanehink (talk) 12:41, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess we should just remove it. I did Camille with Timl2k4, then sorta lost interest in the Collaboration. Then I did a little on Gilbert and nothing on Fifi. So I just decided to start my own personal collaborations, such as Kieth, Adrian and Kenna (next up is Iris). Well, so long TCCOTF, atleast we got one FA out of you. 13:33, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I'd hardly call Mitch as a TCCOTF FA article. It was more or less a personal collaboration with a little help at the end. Still, the personal collaborations have been working much better. I've done a few, Cordesat did Esther (which is on FAC), Tito did Nora, Nilfanion did Irene, Cuivienen did John, etc. --Hurricanehink (talk) 18:16, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to make the page more accessible to people, have some links around the portal. I only just came across it now. If you can get more people to come to the page, you could get some more members.WotGoPlunk 15:23, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe this is a good idea, maybe it isn't. The main problem is that a lot of articles that should be a TCCOTF are mainly lacking a lot of info. Anyone can add more info to an article. A community effort is better for articles that are already developed well, but really disorganized (like Katrina). That's just my opinion, at least. If we are going to keep it, I guess it couldn't hurt to post some more links. --Hurricanehink (talk) 18:16, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
