Distinguished Women of Past and Present[edit]

With almost 2000 articles, this looks really interesting. There's a site at LOC but I can't find out how to access the dictionary which is said to be fully accessible on-line. Can you help, Megalibrarygirl?--Ipigott (talk) 07:19, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ipigott, It's a web archive of the page, so LOC was just doing what Internet archive does. However, I found using the LOC archive to be cumbersome. The archived pages on IA, are much better to access. Unfortunately, they don't link to all of the biographies, but they still often list the women the categories. This link to the IA archived page is pretty good. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:01, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much, Megalibrarygirl. I'll look into this more carefully tomorrow.--Ipigott (talk) 21:23, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Megalibrarygirl: Some of the articles are well prepared and informative. Others simply copy passages from books or journals or link to websites, some of which are no longer active. I don't therefore think it would be advisable to include the link in our lists of biographical dictionaries or resources at this stage. I'm pretty sure nearly all the women listed are already covered in Wikipedia or are included in the Dictionary of Women Worldwide. Maybe Innisfree987 would like to take a look too.--Ipigott (talk) 06:20, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ipigott, yeah, the only thing I thought it might be useful for was as a list, but it's likely we've already captured the women from the website in other lists. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:37, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping! Planning to look through but just not quite caffeinated enough to do it properly yet today—back soon! Innisfree987 (talk) 16:54, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
