Question

Is there a way to see if a page has a Wikidata item without going to the page itself? —hueman1 (talk contributions) 08:17, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

You could use the Wikidata SPARQL query endpoint, and write this query:
SELECT ?item WHERE {
  ?sitelink schema:about ?item;
    schema:isPartOf <https://en.wikipedia.org/>;
    schema:name 'Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2'@en.
}

Click here to launch the Wikidata query

You could also use the Wikidata search endpoint. e.g. to see if there's a wikidata item for the English wikipedia article with title Fox tossing, you can use the URL https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:ItemByTitle?site=enwiki&page=Fox+tossing Colin M (talk) 19:28, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

WikidataCon 2021

Hi all. I'm posting here as a co-curator of the 'Sister projects' track for WikidataCon 2021, which will take place online on 29-31 October 2021. The conference website is at [1].

Integration with Wikidata is a controversial topic here, and we would like to talk about both the pros and cons of Wikidata integration with the other Wikimedia projects during this conference. Whether you like Wikidata or not, please consider submitting a session proposal to explore the issues that you are most interested in.

You can find information about how to submit a session proposal at [2], and you can access the submission form at [3]. Please submit a session proposal through the Pretalx process so that we can review and schedule it appropriately - and make sure to mark it as a 'Sister projects' track proposal. Please note that we cannot accept a session outside of the Pretalx process. We also encourage you to submit talks to other tracks if you are interested!

Note that the deadline for submitting proposals is the 20th October - sorry for the short notice! Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:45, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

I have reverted what seems to me a rather biased summary of that discussion that was inserted into this page — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 23:14, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Access from Wikipedia = untrue

Where do i find the link on the new deisgned wikipedia website? can the "Access from Wikipedia" paragraph reflect both, the old design and the new design? 149.219.220.103 (talk) 11:31, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

I've remove the note that the sidebar is on the left side, because on my skin this is now on the right side. But for some people, it may still be on the left side. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:32, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

Linking to Wikipedia articles in other languages?

Would it be possible to use Template:Wikidata to get links to a specific wikipedia language. For example, I have a list of 100 locations in Iceland, I have the wikidata ID number for all of them and I want to list them in a table with links to the English and Icelandic article. I've started experimenting with it here User:Steinninn/sandbox Steinninn 01:17, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Wrong "Wikidata item" link

Can anyone tell me how to remove an incorrect link to Wikidata in the sidebar of an article? The article Belsize House links to a Wikidata item that is about a different structure in a different place, and as far as I can tell there is no Wikidata item for the particular house that the article is about (though there are items for other Belsize Houses). In addition to the link's being incorrect, it's causing the infobox to display a Mapframe map for Wikidata's Belsize House rather than the article's one. (If it would be better to ask this question at the Help Desk or VP/T, let me know.) Deor (talk) 14:18, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

I removed the link to the Wikipedia article on Wikidata, so the article should no longer fetch the incorrect information. What I did was go to the Wikidata item (by pressing "Tools" > "Wikidata item"), then scrolling down to "Wikipedia", pressing "edit" and then removing the link from there. I think it's also possible to suppress the data in the infobox directly, but it's better to fix the error on Wikidata. Jhvx (talk) 15:01, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. I should have figured that out myself; I guess I need another cup of coffee. Deor (talk) 15:11, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

Infobox testing/sandboxing

Greetings. Is there any suggestion for testing or sandboxing infoboxes pulling out wikidata properties, please? See, for example, Template:Infobox physical quantity/testcases. Thanks. fgnievinski (talk) 04:36, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
